With a final-l ap pass in the sw itchba ck co rn ers, Wo nsk i too k the win in the m oto, and Devli n fin ished second. Eigh t -year-ol d L u k k a ri , a second -ye ar r ider, came i n t o Wedne sday ' s rac e with a sm all poi nt s lead. However, righ t on her tail wa s her g ood fr ie n d a nd ar ch r iv a l J a c o b Davis. Lu k k ari and Davis pretty much own the 50cc Oil -Inj ect ed class , despite the occasional win b y t h e lik es o f K ody Had l e r , Dillo n Sprague and T im Kerber. T his event wa s set to be no different. but then some th ing hap pen ed ... and its nam e was Ronald Deck er. A frequ ent participant at Motok azie' s Motocross Series , Dec k er d isr up ted th e pl an s o f both Lukkari and D avis. Wed nesda y night's q ualifier saw Davis win with r e lativ e ease, w h ile D eck e r h e ld off Lukkari for secon d . T he main eve nt was wh ere the tra in ca me off the track s. Early on, D eck er wa s leadin g, wi th Davi s in second and Lukkari charg ing fro m th ir d . T he ser ies point s leader m ade he r m ove by laun ch ing past Davi s, and she sudde nly foun d h er se l f alongs ide D e c k e r , t h e r e l a t i v e l y unknow n variab le. Dec ker and Lu kka ri ba tt led for a sho rt ti m e un til they in ad verten tly ta ngle d . putting Lukk ari int o th e face of a huge set of tripl es; she did n't finis h the race, as she was shaken up by the hard crash. Thu rsday bro ught a new day . and m ayb e a case of sha k en c onfidence fo r the black -eyed Lukkari and Davis, since th is was the ir divi sio n and their po ints ra c e . Thu r sday ' s heat rac e and m ain eve nt were slightly less dramatic , as De c ke r wa s co n sp ic uous ly abse n t. Davis won , and Lukkari fini shed a close second , but the big story is still the series poi nts ra ce . With a DNF on day one, Lukkari reli nqu ished her points lead to Davi s - a lead she had ma in tained all se aso n lo ng . N ow , wi th n e vv • s Peterson Picks Up Gravity W i ns B y P ETE EMME CHILTON, WI, AUG . 8 Th e Friday Night Motocross Series at Gravity Par k was in fu ll swing , and m ore than 150 entrants were on hand to battle for positio ns an d top sup rem ac y in the series, which w ill cont inue th rough O ct ober. Gravity's one of th e best tr ack s in the Mid wes t fo r act ion under the lights. Th e tr ophie s are big , and the payout is really good. Ben Peters on was on the gas on his KTM on ce again in th e 65cc class. Pet erson had no prob l em t a k i ng b ack -to- b ac k m ot o w in s. Br ian Ludw ig (2 -2) fini shed a respectable sec on d ov era ll , while "Ma d Mat t" Opperma n went 3-3 for th ird . Peterson, a regular at Grav ity, is to ugh to get arou nd, as he's always charg ing to the fro nt . Pete rson also finished fourth ov erall in the 85 c c Ju nior class , via 4 -3 sco res . T ravi s Frassetto and Henry Isabelle each got mota wins. b ut Fras setto c a me o ut o n top w i th 2 - 1 sco re s, whil e Isab elle had t o sett le for third overall, behi nd Ludwig , with 1-4 tallies. Jeremy Hackbarth sho wed his do mi nanc e in the 125cc A and 2 50 c c A divisions with fo ur mota wins on the night. The class was small, but Hackbarth wa s hau ling! Garrett Hoj nack i finis hed sec ond in both motos and actu ally reeled in Hackba rt h in the second 125cc A m ot o but ran out of real estate .
