engine by the end of this year," Imada said. "We don't know when. We are doing dyno testing in Japan and track testing in Japan. Then we will Introduce it for the race." Imada said from an engineer's point of view it is quite small. but from a journalist's point of view It could be quite big. As for the nder's POint of view, "We never know until he actually rides the machine. It's not that small a change." Imada wouldn't say if there would be a new machine for next year. but he did give a hint. "We cannot say much about next year's machine in detail yet." suggesting it would be all new. Imada had been in the racing department from 1980. when he designed the chassis for the RG-Gamma Suzuki 500. to 2001. "I believe the staff of the GP team. the riders. the mechanics. the engineers. the Japanese engineers. are good enough to do the job." Imada said, "I want to have another method to introduce the potential to 100 percent. We hope, by the end of this season. we want to make the machine competitive." The target and schedule for next year have already been decided. "Some parts for next year already started arriving," he said, What he needs to address, Imada said, was the corporate culture, "We cannot do MotoGP as an extension of Superbike or 500cc." he said. Repsol Honda's Valentino Rossi admitted his approach to racing hadn't worked in the races leading up to Bmo, "I need to change a little bit. I think." he said. "In the last races I make two stupid mistakes for thinking too much and make some tactics like in Barcelona stay behind Loris [Capirossi] and waiting for the tires, Also Germany was quite stupid because 10 laps behind Sete [Gibernaul and waiting for last lap for my attack and after make a mistake. So today my only tactics is stay in front of everybody. and then if someone try to overtake me. I try to overtake the next comer,' On the cool-down lap. Rossi took part in an elaborate tableau featuring friends in prison costumes and prison officials. Following his dismount, Rossi had a ball and chain attached to his leg. which he dragged to a stone nearby. Handed a pick ax. Rossi began working on the chain gang. Then he was back on his bike for a trip to the podium. where he showed up in partial prison garb. his display of humor unseen for over a year. "In Italy the press say I am in crisis, so ride every time on the podium is not enough maybe," he said. "So for the next two weeks. I need to work in the prison." GP medic Dr. Claudio Costa rushed to the front-row press conference to dress a bee sting Valentino Rossi suffered at the end of the race. Second place Sete Gibernau found a flaw in the bee's timing, "I wish this happened during the race." he said. Banging fairings into the final corner, BMW Motorrad Team USA's Brian Parriott won the final BMW Motorrad BoxerCup race at the Bmo Circuit. only to get docked 10 seconds for jumping the start. That put him back in eighth place and dropped him to seventh in the final standings, During the course of the 13·lap race, Parriott was never told about the infraction and was in the middle of a seven-rider breakaway at the start. Never worse than fourth. Parriott was among the leaders who took his tum at the front. battling to the final corner and making contact with Thomas Hinterreiter. whom he beat to the line by .037 of a second, With the 10·sec· ond penalty imposed. he was down to eighth, "I didn't know about Parriott's penalty. but that takes nothing away from an exciting race out there," said Hinterreiter, a 48-year~old German. Hinterreiter won three of the nine races. but the title. and the BMW M3 that goes with it. went to Swiss rider Andy Hoffman, Hoffman scored points at every race and was never worse than sixth, VIP guest rider Randy Mamola tucked the front on the right cylinder head on lap nine and crashed, breaking a metacarpal in his left hand. Jason Perez. the second member of Team USA. set the fast lap of the race and finished a seasonbest fourth and 17th in the series. 2003 Presents Round 12 Season Final AMA I CHEVY TRUCK MOTOCROSS NATIONALS Presented by Dunlop Radial Rover LightTruck Tires, and~' SEPT. 5,6 & 7 ~ULtT.LDP '9""IlADIAl 1l0VEIl 6./116' '.UCK I'••• TwinAir ------.-. ~ ~!.!.m!T.!:!!!" ~ IQJcl~n.1llll. ~.~~ m'#fi.,41 i"'~~~ ~ Kenworthy's Motocross Park, - Troy, Ohio Friday, Sept. 5: Gates Open 3:00 pm Sign-up for practice: 5:00-8:00 pm $15 both tracks PRACTICE ON THE TRACK THE PROS RIDE!
