taken by Kyle Brewer, who shot into the lead on the first lap. Russell was getting early pressure from Layne Dussetschleger as the two ran side by side through the first lap. Russell was able to hold off the advances of DU5 setschleger and put some distance between himself and the rest of the field. Brewer and Russell led the way, while behind Dussetschleger, Kelton Grisham had moved around Brian Capps and Doug Wagner in the late stages of the race to take over fourth. Up front, Russell began making up ground on Brewer, cutting into his lead. A late-race charge put Russell up front as the white flag came out. Brewer's mato went from bad to 4 worse, as he crashed on the last lap and lost several positions before remounting. Russell took the win, ahead of Dussetschleger and Grisham. Capps picked up fourth, while Brewer came away with fifth after a disappointing last lap. Brewer was ready to redeem himself in the second mota, and he came away with the holeshot. Behind him, Dussetschleger was holding down second. Russell quickly moved into third and began to challenge Dussetschleger for second and the overall. Russell made his way around Dussetschleger, but Brewer was going to walk away with the mota win. Russell took first overall, ahead of Dussetschleger. Brewer's turn-around second moto earned him third overall. Capps rode to a pair of fours for fourth overall, and Grisham (3-5) rounded out the top five. Kyle Adams stuck it to the 85cc Beginner class, taking two holeshots and moto wins en route to first overall. Adams' wins didn't come without a challenge, as Joey Anglin was right there to keep him honest. Anglin rode to a pair of seconds and kept Adams from running away completely. Robert Strach completed the Yamaha sweep of the podium, taking a 4-3 score for third overall. Craig Swafford broke up the blue sweep riding to a 5-4 for fourth overall. Another Yamaha rounded out the five, this one belonging to Cody Bussart, who rode to a strong third in the first moto before struggling in the second and finishing seventh. Cross C ......k MX Paige.
