Indiana, as the Mid-Michigan Trials Association promoted another great event. This has become a trademark in its 31 years of existence. Brad Howard reaffirmed why he has held the number-one Expert plate in Michigan's AMA District 14 Trials for 10 straight years by carding the day's lowest score· 28 points· to take the day's overall victory. Daiki Wantanabe was second overall, nipping his big brother Yuki, who finished third, by one point. Daiki was fluid and smooth all day long, while a couple of untimely dabs cost Yuki second overall, in Gate Fees: • $15 for weekend adults • $5 children 6-12 yrs • Free or kids under 6 yrs. spite of being the only rider to clean the Experts·only Section 10. Rounding out the top five were Jim Gwene and Gary Howard. "Experience was the key today," Howard explained. "The Wantanabes are great at hopping the bike around stadium stuff, but it was the old-school section where today's event was decided.· The Youth riders kicked off the day's show. Daniel Arsenault pushed his Beta 50 to a solid win, with seven points, over Travis Howard (with 15 points) and Tyler Soderlund (with 21 points). Arsenault cleared 11 of the sections during the three loops that had been laid out for District 14's Trials young guns. While Arsenault had sections four and five dialed in, dropping only an occasional dab, runner-up Travis had section two locked up. scoring a clean on aJl three passes, and that proved to be the difference between second and third. Soderlund had the best score in section three all day, and he rounded out the top three. In the Advanced class, Scott DeBolt used a mixture of strength and finesse to top all challengers, carding an impressive 58 to take an l1-point victory over his nearest competitor. Matt Boardman nabbed second overall in a strong effort, outlasting Mike Delursynder by a mere three points when the final points were tallied. The rest of the top five went to Dave Knapp, with 89 points, and the third member of the Wantanabe gang, Kunia, with 97 points.
