advantage; using his rain-riding skills culled over the last season, he moved to the lead. Kamara went down, and Larson moved to third. Larson picked up his pace and caught Kelley in the last corner to take second. Lynn took his second win of the day. "The 600cc Superstock race went perfect, whereas in this race I followed Kelley around to see his lines, and I was having a good time: Lynn said. "Then, as the rain began to fall, he fell off the pace, and I was comfortable running a faster pace to [take] the win." The drizzle let up, but the track was still wet as the Experts took the green for the 750cc Superstock race. All of the riders stayed with their DOT tires. Reuben Frankenfield took the lead on his Pirelli/Trackside Racers Supply/Arai Suzuki, with Tray Batey on his rear wheel. Down the front straight, Batey took the lead on the Vesrah/Pirelli/ Arrow Suzuki. John Jacobi, on the Vesrah/Arai/Vanson Suzuki, outbraked Frankenfield going into turn one to take second. Scott Carpenter ran fourth on his 750cc Suzuki. In the contest for fifth, Greg Meyer, on the Michelin/Vortex Yamaha 600, held off C.R. Gittere and William Johnson. Batey went on to take his first win of the day. After a quick stop in the pits, Batey was back to take the start of the Heavyweight Twins combined final. With the wave of the green, Fred Bittner jumped the start on his Fast By Ferracci/Michelin/GMD 996 Ducati. Batey took the overall lead, as Bittner quickly retumed to the hot pit to take his stop-and-go penalty. Starting from the rear of the field, Bittner worked his way through the pack. First, he got Jeff Ozman, then Davenport; next it was Rusty Nations. He began to catch the Experts, starting with Brian Roach and Jimmy Clark. In six laps, he was running second overall and first in class, but Batey was far out of his reach. Batey took his second win of the day. "I knew I jumped the start, so I came right in for my penalty right away: Bittner said, "and then I just worked my way to the front again." Young Coloradoan Nicky Wimbauer took the lead in the 600cc Superbike contest, with four seasoned Experts right on his tail. Meanwhile, Lynn charged from his secondwave start to work his way into the Expert field. Kelley ran second, with Larson in third. Up front, Myers, David Weber, Garofalo and James Stroud continued to hound Wimbauer for the lead in the Expert portion. Drafting down the front straight, this pack would arrive at the first corner three- to four-wide. Finally, on the seventh lap, Wimbauer put the hammer down on his Yamaha R6 and gained a two-second lead and went on to take the victory. Yamahamounted Myers took second, Suzukimounted Weber had third, Suzukimounted Garofalo took fourth, and Honda-mounted Stroud was fifth. Lynn took his third win of the day in the Novice race. "I heard them behind me," Expert winner Wimbauer said, "but when we came up on lapped riders, I guess I just got through there better." It was a battle in the Formula Two Expert race, with three different bikes racing for the lead: C. Brian Kcraget, on the Honda 125; Bart Ashby, on the Lockhart/Phillips Suzuki SV; and Clark, on the Rinderer Racing Honda 250. The Novice field was all Suzuki SVs, with Davenport in the lead, C. Brian Kcraget (1) battles with Scott Moxey (72) In the 125cc Grand Prix final at Summit Point Raceway. Bruck Stanford second and Dennis Garber third. Kcraget finally established himself in the lead and went on to victory, with Ashby second and Clark third. David Weber took his XT Racing/ OuterExtremes Suzuki 750 to the lead in the 750cc Superbike final, with Yamaha-mounted Wimbauer in second. Gittere ran third, with Bobby Miosek, on the other Info Tech R6, in fourth. Larson led the Novice portion on the Speed Werks Suzuki 600. Scott Collins moved to second in his LP/Charlie's Cycle Yamaha 600. Bittner, on the Ducati 996, battled with Erick Kline, on the Paparo Cycle Shop/Dunlop Suzuki 750. As Weber took the win, Myers took fourth in the Expert race. Among the Novices, it was Larson first, Collins second, and Kline finally got by Bittner for third. "I finally got by Weber in the carrousel," Wimbauer said, "but he motored me down the front straight to the win. I did turn a 1:16, so I am happy about that." The Expert battle for three wins on the day came down to the final race of the day, the Pirelli Formula One race. Bemisderfer had won the Open and 600cc Superstock races, and Batey had won the 750cc Superstock race and the Heavyweight Twins race. Bemisderfer was ready on his Shenandoah Honda/Dunlop Honda 954. Batey had Pirelli slicks mounted on his Vesrah/Pirelli Suzuki 750. All the cards were on the table as the old days, when I had to do everything myself. This is also better than when I just rode the bikes and everything was done for me." eN Summit Point IlllceWIY Sum.it Point, West Virginil Results: "'gust 3, Z0lI3 lRound 1 nf 1.01 600 S/STK NOV: I. Behind this dueling twosome, Gittere, on the RepairManual.com/Trackside Suzuki 1000, was fighting for third with Carpenter, on the RonAyers.com/Pirelli Suzuki 750. Tibor Sulyok, on Dunlop/Kawasaki 636, was following in fifth. On this day at Summit Point, Batey was just perfect, and he went on to take his third win of the day. When asked about maintaining his own motorcycles, Batey stated: "Anyone that does this knows that if you take care of your own bike, takes notes, and if the lap times get better, then you are on the right track. When I rode the Formula Xtreme series, we had a lot of good help, but I was not that intimate with my bike.
