second. Carlotta was third, with Rod Spencer and Netto rounding out the top five. "The track was pretty tough and was rutting up, but Ricky Smith and all the guys did a great job," Bricker said. "I just kept being consistent and aggressive and worked my way up. I was lucky some [things] bounced my way. We went from there. We got a decent start. I was just tip-toeing around the first couple of laps, then I got my rhythm down. At the end the tire went away, and we were tip-toeing again. But we got the win and got the monkey off our back, and I was able to bring home a win for Moto MD, Pro Beauty Racing, Arai, Saddleman, Troy Lee and all the guys. Without them I'd be done." With Sanchez going down again on his way to the front and finishing 10th, Bricker extended the points lead to 18 with half the season complete. Bill Knight Racing/ A&A Racing/ Saddleman's Rick Hocking got the holeshot in the Saddleman Open Vintage main, with Brad Spencer and Joe Carrera close behind him. Hocking led Brad Spencer on the opening lap, while Rod Spencer got by Carrera for third. On lap two Brad Spencer passed Hocking, the Open Vintage Champion who had yet to be defeated in 2003, as they crossed the start/finish line. As they went through the infield, Rod Spencer also got by Hocking for second. One lap later, Rod put a move on brother Brad for the lead as Hocking lost his chain in turn one. Rod Spencer then proceeded to check out on the field. Veteran GNC campaigner Anthomy Giammanco tried a move on Brad Spencer but came up short. At the flag it was Rod Spencer with the win; Brad Spencer was second, followed by Giammanco, Danny Ritchie and Carrera. "It went pretty smooth," Rod Spencer said. "I knew my competition would be my brother, Hocking, Carrera and Giammanco. The track was good tonight, real technical, a cushion. Kinda suits my riding style. Robert Voit had the bike set up really good. We have Rod Lake behind us now, and things went really well." The Honda Top Gun 450 main event would require four tries to get going, but when it finally counted, Ricky Hollenbek got the holeshot with Engines Only/Shift/Hlebo Brothers Suspension's Rodney Spencer Jr. second and Kenny Hees third. On lap six a backmarker went down in the hairpin in front of the leaders. Hollenbek was forced to veer off the track, allowing Rod to take the lead. Hollenbek really put the pressure on for the remaining laps but Rod held him off for the win. Hees was third, followed (Han): 13. A.J. Herrera (Hen): 14. Thomas Carriger (Han): '15. Clay Chambers (Rot). SADDLEMEN OPEN VINT: 1. Rod Spencer (Yam); 2. Brad Spencer (Yam): 3. Anthony Giammanco (Yam): 4. Danny Ritchie (Yam); 5. Joe by Charlie Potts and Ron Hinton. "I kept on getting good starts, but the restarts were just killing me," Spencer said. "Finally, I got going, and I was in second with Rick, and actually a guy went down, kinda fell and got in the way and helped me to get by Rick. I heard Rick back there, and it was tough, but I got it there in the end. I just have to thank my sponsors and my mom and dad." The Classic Vintage Four-Stroke Twins main event brought back the sights, sounds and smells of yesteryear. Chris Rudy fielded a 1956 Harley-Davidson 750 flathead against a full field of English twins. Bob Scally screamed his Triumph off the line and into the lead, followed by the Triumph of Jerry Kennedy with Rudy in third. On lap two Rudy got by Kennedy, as did Marty Lewis, and Rudy began to close on Scally. At the cross flags Rudy pressured Scally and dove under him for the lead. Rudy's Harley led the Triumphs home this time. Scally, Lewis, Stu Cardott and Russell Sosa rounded out the top five, all ofthem on Triumphs. eN Carrera (Yam); 6. David Nance (Yam); 7.
