It was a hot and humid day, and the 31 main events started with the Pee Wee classes. Scott Hampton Jr. took the checkers first in the Stock A event. Hampton came back to take second in the Pee Wee Senior class, behind Dominic Colindres. Seth Fischer got the biggest trophy in the Stock B class, and Adam Hernandez was the first of five riders in the C class. Michael Martin rode to a victory, in front of Tony Davila and James Williams, in the 60cc class. Jake Strong, riding the 80cc C class for the first time ever, and on a borrowed bike, came back to win the main event after falling halfway through the heat race. Jarrod Murray and Chivon Crump followed him to the finish. The 80cc A class is always exciting and fast, and this week was no different. Anthony Fong Jr. walked away with this one while the battle for the second and third spots went on behind him. Tony Davila and Chad Case worked hard, followed by the other four riders. Cose took over the second spot after Davila went down. Bobby Fong got past the Anselmi brothers for third. The finishing order was Anthony, Case and Bobby. Another great race on this night was the Open A contest. Marty Weisler got the holeshot, with Mark Corsetti and Justin Felice behind him. It didn't take long for Corsetti to get past Felice and begin the charge to over· take Weisler. Behind the two front-runners, Nick Moore got around Felice. At the finish, it was Corsetti, Weisler and Moore. Moore was first in the Pro-Am. Sometimes one rider really gets your attention. Right now, one of this District's hottest young riders is Mike Rush. who has been winning consistently. Rush is sponsored by his uncle and DeMario RaCing. He rides in the B class and has finished first in both the Open B and Vintage B classes most of this season. Rush finished first again on this night in the four-rider Open B contest and in the seven· rider Vintage B class. He doesn't always get the holeshot; sometimes he has to get by the riders in front of him to take the victory. Once he gets out in front, he just keeps on going. This young man is 50 talented that he is referred to as "a natural" by other riders. Besides being talented, he is also a nice young man. When Rush isn't riding, you can usually find him sitting as close to the track as he can get, watching others, studying their style and their moves. Along with Nick Moore, another upcoming young rider, we will likely continue to see Rush's name in the winning column as he moves up through the racing ranks.
