YZ250. "Murk" sailed high over the top in the first round with a 4.238-second time for the win. John Michael Gocken was second on his Yamaha. and the "Flying Dentist," Dr. John Colbert. placed third. Schroeder couldn't quite pull off the double win (which he's done several times this year). as his very good first-round 4.301·second time on his stock· length Yamaha was well short of the time of Matt Peters. who fiew his CR250 over the top in 4.192 seconds on his second ride to take the win from Schroeder. ledge, but he pulled it together on the last two loops to capture first place. Second place went to "Hollywood." The Intermediate class fought it out as well. Glenn Falter edged out rival David Kirby by six points. and Steve Eichelberg finished just four points behind Kirby. Freddie Reinhart finished fourth. The Intermediate class is battling back and forth at each event; the scores were almost in reverse order from last month's event. Falter mentioned that he's ready to start taking some advanced lines to improve his ability. The competition is pushing the Intermediates to try to outdo each other. George Kirby once again dominated the Novice class. He is unbeaten in the 2003 series. George only had nine points for the day; he may be looking at some Intermediate lines in the near future. Cal Blumhorst finished second. and landowners Tony Wilson and Joe Wilson were third and fourth. The Wilsons showed their youthful enthusiasm during the event and had an awesome time. The next event is slated for August 10. Will Agans get a streak going? Can anyone challenge George Kirby? Come on out and see first-hand! Results 50 AUTO: I. Mati. Goeken (Act); 2. Burlew's 3-2 tally beat Jamison's 2-3 score for second on the day. Floridian John Getz. on a Kawasaki. was fourth. Fredericks (5-5) was fifth overall. Old Bridge Township Raceway Park Lindsay Masters Raceway Park Bv MATT WOZNEV Wilsons' Off Road Park ENGLISHTOWN. NJ. JULY 13 This race at the Old Bridge Township Raceway Park proved to be another great day, with sunny skies and nearly gO-degree tempera· tures. The track was in perfect shape, and with Ken Landerman and Jay Irwin at the helm, the race day went smoothly. One rider who able to conquer the rough and sandy Englishtown track was Kawasaki jockey Mark Lindsay. The Hewitt, New Jersey, resident was on the gas. His speed was amazing, and his lead grew and grew every lap in the 85cc (14- 15) and Supermini classes, sweeping both with 1- J finishes. Second overall in both classes was Suzuki jockey Anthony Roth, who earned a 3-2 tally in the 85cc (14-15) class and a 3-3 score in the Supermini class. However. Lindsay didn't ride just the 85cc classes. he also contested the Schoolboy class aboard his KX 100, against the much larger 125cc machines. Even with so many fast riders aboard fast machines, Lindsay was able to finish seventh in the large 125cc Schoolboy class. The winner was Suzuki rider Taylor Murphy. who finished with a 3-1 tally. over second-placed rider Mike Gesso (2-2). aboard Agans Regains His Composure Bv TERRV BUUARD BELLE, MO, JULY 13 Rick Agans won the Expert class at round seven of the MJTA trials competition in Belle, Missouri. Only one point separated Agans and Adam Blumhorst. Agans and Blumhorst went head to head in each section. Blumhorst broke off a footpeg after he dropped into the creek in section five; that cost him five points, which moved him to second for the day. Drew "Full Throttle" Wright suffered three crowd-pleasing crashes in section three, which pushed him back to third, and which ended his win streak at two. Advanced-class rider Joel Whitworth sat out the day. Instead of riding. he held the title of "trials master" and let fellow competitors Terry Bullard and "Hollywood" square off. Bullard stumbled a bit in the beginning by missing a split and coming up short on a Results 65 (7-9): 1. Tyler Womey (KTM): 2. Brett Forman (KTM); 3. Anthony Maimone (Kaw): 4. Miles Wil~ (Suz): 5. J.T. Bennett hot on their heels. Blackwell felt that the track was pretty tough at first. but after a couple of laps it was beautiful, if still tight. '" went through a couple sections each lap where I thought, 'If I could just get through this. I will be okay,'" Blackwell said. Barber added that the track was pretty awesome and thanked Smith Power Sports and MX Tech for helping him get through the day. Bennett had a few suspension woes throughout the day but feit that. all in all. he had a decent day. "I was just glad to be out on such a great course and get in a day of riding," Bennett said. "I just want to send a qUick thanks to MSR. X-treme and WER for heiping me out." The track included a lot of rooty uphills and grueling. nasty downhills that kept the competition fierce. Promoter and track coordi~ nator Chuck Greenlee also had some nice open sections to let riders catch their breath, and some creek crossings to keep them cool on the 80-plus-degree day. Vet B riders Mark Cline and Rich Miller both thought that the race was fun. "It had great tight. technical sections that were rocky and hard-packed. with refreshing creek crossings," commented Cline. "It was so much fun," Miller agreed "The track was really, really, really nice. It was my kind of stuff." "The track had a very nice mix of tight, technical sections," said 250cc B rider Ken Szewcyk, "but the open spaces throughout were really good to catch your breath. Chuck and his crew did a great job." The consensus of the other riders was that it was tough, that they loved it and that it was typical Cable Creek - all in all, a great track on which to have a lot of fun. Nine-year-old Ryan Lojak won the 65cc class and placed third overall in the Youth race. He said that it was a pretty fun race and that he is looking forward to the rest of the season. The next AWRCS event will beheld August 31 in Maple Shade and. like all the races. will start at noon. GRETCHEN ORTON STUBENVILLE, OH. JULY 13 Round four of AWRCS action. held at Cable Creek. was another tough. grueling battle - in this case. a battle of the "B"s: Blackwell. Bennett and Barber. It was a long day and a long, hard. eight-lap race. Doug Blackwell and John Barber went back and forth for the lead the entire day. with Southwoods Motocross Clark Clocks Back In B V MICHAEL JAMES MONTICELLO. NY, JULY 13 The South woods Motocross track snakes up and down the Holiday Mountain ski slopes, and for fans of old-school. European motocross, this was the place to be. The track, a mix of loam and sand at the base of the mountains, gets rough and demands the best from the rider; think "Mammoth Mountain East." Fast Kawasaki rider Chris Clark has been on a tear since his "unretirement" over the winter. Clark finished second to the Over 35-ciass winner. CRF450R-mounted Joe Fritz, but Clark decimated the second moto with a wire-to-wire win over rival and points leader Ralph Scannapieco, on a Yamaha. Clark's aggressiveness was a sight to behold. "I don't get road rage," Clark commented. "I get track rage!"
