The inte~ationaJ press launch for the brand-new 1000cc V-twin was being held at the track over the course of a couple of days to allow journalists from around the world an opportunity to sample Aprilia's latest motorcycle. After posing for some photographs, Mr. Beggio took to the circuit for a few laps to get a feel for the bIke. Look for a first ride of the RSV1000R Factory in an upcoming issue of Cycle News. Another Big Day POI' Ride POI' Kids On Sunday, August 3, 450 motorcyclists and volunteers gathered together for a special occasion - the 11 th annual Hudson Valley Ride for Kids in New York. At the end of the . day, the motorcyclists presented a check to the foundation for $98,541. . From the Anthony Wayne recreation area in Harriman State Park, the riders made their way via a police escort to the village of Piermont along the lovely bank~ of the Hudson River. There, under the "Big Top Tent: riders gathered for the CelebratIon of Life program. Seven patient families joined Dr. James Garvin, a pediatric neuro-oncologist from the region to share what it is like to live with a pediatric brain tumor. One bram tumor survivor in' attendance, 2ach (pictured), was the recipient of one of the foundation's postsecondary scholarships. Top individual fundraiser Anthony Pessalano, who raised $23,095, shared with the group how hard it was to lose his mother to a brain tumor and how he works to raise funds for the Foundation in her memory. The Liam Reda Foundation was the Top Club with a total of $9007. New York Honda, of Long Island, NY, captured the Top Dealer spot with a total of $5775. John Ford of Maywood, NJ, had quite a Sunday. He was the winner of a brand-new Honda motorcycle donated by American Honda Motor Company. The new suit features various sensors to monitor the rider's heart rate, temperature and physical movements. The data can then be downloaded to a laptop at the end of each session. Other sensors are for determining the severity of impacts on various locations on the suit, to help the designers at Alpinestars improve the product's protective qualities.
