Delepine had the best reaction to jump in front out of the gate. But Kunzel's fine form came out in the Super Final as well. He knew that he had to put massive pressure on the race leader to try to duplicate the GP win he already collected this year in the opening race in France. In four laps Delepine was history already, and the German attempted to run away from the rest of the field. But Chambon was on the move. Despite a torrid sun and extremely hot temperature, the two KTMs didn't save energy, and the long run to complete 32 laps saw Kunzel in front for two-thirds of them with the Frenchman behind him, getting closer and closer. When 11 laps were left, the German gave it up. Chambon was putting tremendous pressure on him, and he couldn't keep riding at such a high pace. Once Chambon made the winning move over the off-road downhill chicane, the pace slowed, with the German losing visible ground but still conserving a safe second place. For Chambon it was a smart and really hard win coming from a unique determination and a superb ride on his factory KTM. Third place on the podium was occupied by the local star, Manzo, who made up for his two poor preliminary heats by performing an impressive recovery from 10th place on lap one all the way to third. Delepine finished fourth, which, with the second and the other fourth of moto one and two, meant a lot of world points gained. Fiorentino was comfortably sitting in third place until lap nine, when an accident put him in 14th. He regained just a few spots to finish 11 th, behind the other local specialist Lazzarini. It couldn't go any worse for SeeI, who tried hard by starting from 13th place and coming up as far as eighth by the completion of lap 10. Then a small crash out of the dirt section caused permanent damage to his Husky's front brakes, and he had no other choice but to give up. Provisional standings confirmed Chambon as the series leader, with Kunzel four points adrift. Fiorentino, Manzo, Lazzarini and SeeI follow. eN Troy Lee Designs went supermoto racing with its newly announced rider team comprised of former AMA National Motocross Champions Jeremy McGrath and Jeff Ward and one of the winningest, and arguably the most well known performance company ever, Pro Circuit.
