Blackfoot Motorcycle Park: Blackfoot teammates Jean-Sebastien Roy (1) and Damon Huffman (120) lead the pack out of the first corner during the first 250cc Pro moto at round three of the Canadian National Motocross Series in Calgary, Alberta. Blackfoot don't care who wins; they want to see us one and two." In mota one. Roy grabbed the lead, with Huffman second. Yamaha's Craig Decker also got a good start and was running third. Roy quickly pulled away, leaving Huffman and Decker battling for second. Riverside Varna· ha's Danny Beckett Jr. held off Richmond Racing Kawasaki's Darcy Lange for fourth for the first few laps before Evan Laughridge passed both riders. Decker got by Huffman on the third lap and ran second until midmoto. In a tight cor· ner t Decker stalled the four-stroke Yamaha for the second time in two weeks, giving Huffman the chance to move into second. Decker didn't lose much time, and he stayed on Huff· man, reclaiming second - only to give it up again in the last few iaps. Roy took the win. with Huffman second and Decker settling for third. In moto two, Roy faced his first real challenge of the season, as he and Huffman battled for the lead. Diablo Honda's Marco Dube grabbed the holeshot, with Lange right there. Lange and Dube traded the lead before Huffman headed out front on lap two. Roy, who was fifth after one lap, moved quickly into second and started to catch Huffman. Dube ran third, holding off Lange for several laps. Lange made the midmoto pass and ran alone in third while Roy tried to catch Huffman. While the battle for the lead raged, Decker worked his way through the pack from a 14th-place start. With two laps left, he caught up to the third-placed Lange and started to put the pressure on him, eventually making the last-lap pass for the podium position. Roy tried every line in an effort to get by Huffman, but a focused Huffman stayed out front. In the 125cc West class, Pacific Yamaha's Jimmy Nelson ended Suzuki rider Evan Laughridge's four-mota winning streak. Nelson, who has shown he has the speed to run with Laughridge in recent weeks, finally put it all together for the overall win. "It's kind of been long overdue," said Nelson. "For a few weekends, I've been getting pretty good starts and would be riding good the first mota, and then I'd go down. Last week, in the second mota, I got 40th gate pick and couldn't make much of that. I finally got a good start and just took off from there." Nelson grabbed the first-mota holeshot and stayed out front. With Laughridge caught up in a first-turn crash that left him in last place, Yamaha rider Bart Stephenson was left to challenge Nelson for the lead. Stephenson pursued Nelson for the whole race, closing the gap time and time again. Yamaha pilot Tracey Johnson started in third place but was quickly bumped back by Tiger Lacey, on a Honda. Lacey ran third for much of the race, while Laughridge blasted his way through the pack after his dismal start. Laughridge showed his speed by making the late-race pass on Lacey for third place. Nelson held off Stephenson for the win. In the second mota, Nelson got another good start, running up front with Richmond Kawasaki's Colton Facciotti. Stephenson was again in the mix, while Laughridge left the line in fifth. Nelson ran out front, with Stephenson in second, and Laughridge moved up to third. It looked like Nelson would take the win, as he held a 20-second lead for part of the mota, but Laughridge moved in on him and made the pass. Nelson cruised to second place and his first overall win. With one round of the 125cc West Series left, Laughridge now leads the points race with 145, Stephenson is second with 114, and Lacey is third with] 06. Blackfoot Motorcycle Park CBlgary. Alberta.
