he battle for the 2003 World
Speedway crown heated up with
a spectacular night's racing at Krsko
in Slovenia, but American favorite
Greg Hancock lost ground in his bid
to repeat his 1997 title success.
Hancock failed to reach the final
for the first time in four GPs, making
his exit when finishing last in the second semifinal.
Reigning World Champion Tony
Rickardsson also went out in the
same race, running a third behind
Tomasz Gollob and Leigh Adams,
and he has now been caught at the
head of the leaderboard by Nicki Pedersen.
The temperamental Dane, never
far away from the thick of the actio!).,
was second behind Adams in th-e
final, and both Rickardsson and Peci:
ersen now have 89 points. Scott
Nicholls of Great Britain was third if!

The victory for Leigh Adams made
the Aussie the fifth different winner
this year, and it was his second
Grand Prix success after breaking his
duck in Gothenburg last season.
