The GSX-R features a 4-lnto-2-into-1 exhaust with the SET (Suzuki Exhaust Tuning) valve residing before the silencer. The headers are titanium as are the intemal baffles in the canister, but the outer shell of the silencer is made of aluminum. YAMAHA YZF-Rl The R1's cockpit isn't as roomy as the Suzuki's, but all of the infonnation that you need is right is front of you. The mirrors on the R1 are a little on the buzzy side. The angle of the clipons can make the cockpit feel a little cramped in street situations, but it feels great on the track. The Suzuki has a bit more room than the R1 and has a really easy-to-read dash assembly. Taller riders will definitely like the room provided by the more spread out clip-ons. The GSX-R features LED taillights for the first time in 2003. 2 The Yamaha's taillights are also LED bulbs, allowing the designers to make the rear tail section look really thin and attractive. And the winner is the 2003 Suzuki GSX-R1000. Can't you see my smile? cue I e n e _ S • JULV 30.2003 35
