F&SJSuzuki Spring Series Round &: Kenworthy's MotocnJss Park Gibson Goes Home Again Bv RUPERT X. PElLElT TROY, OH, JUNE 22 Jeff Gibson, on his DFW KTM, had a fine day at round six of the Suzuki Spring Series at Kenworthy's Motocross Park in Troy, Ohio, returning to his home track after a frustrating early season campaigning the AMA Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Nationals Series. After injuring his hand in a mountain-bike trainjng accident this spring, Gibson had to sit out a few rounds of the Nationals to recuperate. Now that he's back up to full speed, Gibson took advantage of this warm, wonderful day to get in some practice at the famed Kenworthy's circuit, at race speeds, in anticipation of the upcoming 125cc/250cc AMA Pro National at this scenic locale. Gibson didn't have it all easy, though. Moto-Extremes/Husqvarna-sponsored "Wild Willy" Browning gave Gibson some difficulties, taking moto one of the 125cc Pro class away from Gibson, though Gibson would win the other three Pro motos outright to take both overalls for the day. Browning's 1-2 tally in the 125s garnered him second overall, behind Gibson, and his 2·2 score did the same in the 250cc class. With more than 600 riders on hand at this grand facility, there was terrific racing in all the classes, as many of Ohio's top Amateur racers jostled for position on Kenworthy's two top-notch circuits. There was absolutely no stopping Cernie's Suzuki-backed Kyle Preston at this final round of the Suzuki Spring Series. Preston had the perfect day, earning mega Suzukj bucks as he went six for six, sweeping three classes overall: the 125cc B, 250cc Band 16-24 divisions. A little guy made some large noise on the big track at this freshly reconfigured course, as Cody Adams spanked a couple of classes on his Yamahas. Adams stormed home the winner in the 85cc (12-15) and Schoolboy classes, thrilling the crowd with his daring leaps and incredible speed. The Pee Wee track was all about Walker Brightwell on this Sunday. Keeping his Suzukis at "warp speed," young Brightwell simply overran the 65cc and Mini Junior divisions, running home with some tall trophies from the little track and keeping intact hjs reputation as a Mini star to keep your eye on.
