Northwest Regional Loretta Lynn's Qualifier Extreme Motorsports MX Park Leads between the two changed so much it was hard to keep track. Block·passes were made by both riders, but always cleanly. DeAtley edged Sheren out in moto one. but Sheren won motos two and three. Trysten Fortune of Walla Walla, Washington, went 1-1-1 in the 50cc (4-5) Stock OilInjected class. Wyatt James took second overall. McKenna Stewart duked it out with the boys and qualified third, with Sennett Ferris fourth. Siebler Rules Airway! 8 Y LEE LIVESEY AIRWAY HEIGHTS, WA, JUNE 14-15 Emmitt, Idaho's Cole Siebler dominated the Pro Sport classes at the Northwest Regional Loretta Lynn's Qualifier on June 14 and 15 in Airway Heights, Washington. Siebler placed first in 11 out of 12 motos, only dropping to fourth in the second 125cc A moto. Siebler had some stiff competition from two-time World Four-Stroke Champion and current WORCS rider Lance Smail, who was riding injured. Smail was coming off a recent two· rib fracture that punctured a lung, but he man· aged to get the holeshot in every moto; however. the healthier Siebler would pass him within a lap. Smail was the better comerer, but Siebler pulled ahead on the straights. When not racing, Smail was coaching his son Justin Gnoinsky, who had an off day and finished 15th in the I 25cc C class. Two gorgeous days of sunny weather made for ideal race conditions. The prevalent winds at the Airway Heights plateau were con· spicuously absent, allowing riders to really air it out. Track promoters Ray and Vickie Kauf· man had the track in great shape. Nearly 5000 cubic yards of fresh dirt had been screened and worked into the track. The jumps were bigger, the tabletops longer. and the whoops deeper than before, giving riders a chance to showcase their skills. Classes were split, with Stock classes run on Saturday and Modified bikes on Sunday. The long hours of daylight at this latitude allowed for a format of three 20-minute motos. with plenty of daylight still left. Riders came from Canada. Washington, Idaho, Ore· gon, Montana, California, Colorado, Nevada, Wyoming, Indiana, Missouri, Utah and even Hawaii to compete for the Loretta's "E-ticket ride." Joshua Hill was untouchable in both the 85cc (12-13) Stock and Modified classes. Hill's closest competition was hard-charging Gunner Strum. Young gun Hill showed an amazing ability to point the bike exactly where he wanted it. Hill was first in all six motos, with Extreme Motorsports MX Park Airway Heights. Washington Strum second. Tyler "Mini Villain" Villopoto took the last transition spot in fourth, just behind Bryce Huffman. Spokane, Washington's "Hurricane" Heath Robertson took first in the 250cc Open B Stock and Modified classes, as well as the 125cc B Stock class. Jake Weimer edged Robertson to second in the 125cc B Modified class. Middleton, Idaho's Kyle Kubitschek was the master of the Four-Stroke crowd, edging out Kent, Washington's Kevin Urquhart for first overall. Shiri Howell was smokin' in the Women's 105- 125cc class. Howell had the green bike pinned from the gate in all three motos to get in front of Kimberlee Urquhart. who also looked fast on a red bike and went 2-2-2 for second overall. Melissa Hackett and Heidi Koerschgen rode side by side during motos one and two, looking like they were joined at the hip_ Jennifer Jones got in between them for a fourth-place finish in moto three. Hackett went )·4·) for third, and Koerschgen went 4-3-5 for fourth. "Crocodile" Hunter Evanson battled with Jessy Nelson. Chris Alldredge and Bayliss Ward in the 50cc (7 -8) class. Nelson went 1-1 but then had difficulties in mota three, giving Evanson first overall. Alldredge was second, Nelson was third, and Ward took the last ticket to the big dance. Darell White gets the "Worst to First" award for going from 16th in moto one to first in mota three. Spokane's Chris Howell lit up the second two motos after placing eighth in moto one of the 85cc (7-11) Modified class on Sunday. Port Angeles, Washington's Jake "The Snake" Anstett nailed the holeshot and the win in moto one but had a fall in moto two and finished 19th. Loretta rides went to Howell, Ronnie Goodwin, Anstett and Matt DeAtley (making his return after a short-lived early retirement) . Mike Boehnke had the most spectacular get-off in moto three of the Over 35 class. Boehnke had changed a rear tire and forgotten the brakes.
