ith its twists and turns, ups and
downs, patches and transitions,
bumps and grooves, and imposing
barriers, New Hampshire International
Speedway is not the easiest track to
learn. More than one rider has admitted not being able to, or not being
willing to, master the complexities of
the course. Which makes local
knowledge that much more essential.
The proof on Sunday came in the
form of Bettencourt Honda/Argo
Cycles' teammates Scott Greenwood
and Jeff Wood. The pair of New Englanders are regulars and rivals in the
Loudon Road Race Series, and Wood
is an instructor at the Penguin Road

Racing School. They're as familiar
with the nuances of the 1.6-mile road
course as anyone, and it showed in
the Sportbike races during the third
round of the Formula USA National
Road Race Series.
The Honda CBR-600RR-mounted
Wood got the jump in the first leg,
Greenwood knowing how difficult it
would be to pass, and never getting it
done. The margin of victory was .381
of a second. Greenwood returned the
favor in the second leg, jetting his
