t was a day to celebrate fatherhood but it turned out to be one
dictated by Mother Nature. Great
weather and sunny skies greeted
everyone for round eight of the
AMA Grand Na-tional Cross Country Series, held at the sprawling
Virginia Motorsports Park. But just
minutes before the green flag
waved, the skies opened up on the
inaugural Patriot GNCC race.
And thus the series enjoyed yet
another mud race and another big
win by Kawasaki's streaking mud
specialist Chuck Woodford. Over the
last few weeks, Woodford has won
two straight GNCCs and the treacherous Moose Run, proving, once again,
that when he's hot, no one can cool
him down.
"Things are really coming together
for me," the Kawasaki/Pro Circuit/
O'Neal/Michelin-backed Woodford
said. "I knew I could do it; I did this
last year. But my concentration this
year was to smooth out and be consistent and go for a championship.
But I got hurt before the season started, so there's only one thing left to do
- win more races."

all three riders' finishes is that they all
suffered terrible starts.
