o o o o On Any Sunday, but a crash the weekend before left him injured and unable to partake in the filming. GNCC Racing, a division of Racer Productions and producers of the AMA Grand National Cross Country Series. will host the first-ever GNCC Golf Tournament on Friday, June 27, the same weekend as the MSR Wisp GNCC. The event will raise money for America's Team presented by Parts Unlimited, the U.S Trophy Team at this year's International Six Days Enduro (ISDE). GNCC riders and spectators are invited to team up with America's Team members and other top GNCC racers. The $80 entry fee will go straight to the ISDE fund-raising effort, and several America's Team sponsors have chipped in donations and prizes to sweeten the pot. But unlike the ISDE itself, the GNCC Golf Tournament is not about winning. "Everyone involved with Project GNCC ISDE 2003 has been working hard, but now it's time to have some fun," said team manager Jeff Russell. "They better not get competitive, because I know all of these guys ride better than they golf!" America' s Team members scheduled to golf include GNCC Champion and America's Team Captain Rodney Smith, AMA National Hare Scrambles Champion Fred Andrews, AMA National Motocross Champion Mike Kiedrowski, AMA National Enduro Champion Mike lafferty, and Am-Pro Yamaha's Jason Raines. Other top GNCC Pro bike and ATV racers, such as GNCC series points leader Barry Hawk and six-time AMA National Enduro Champion Randy Hawkins will be playing as well. The golf game is a scramble featuring teams of four playing under a best-ball format. The event begins at 1 p.m. Parts Unlimited will host a free dinner for all golfers at 7 p.m. In addition, goifers planning on racing the MSR Wisp GNCC that weekend can sign up for the event during the dinner. The game takes place at Wisp at Deep Creek Mountain Resort. one of the region's top golf courses. The golf game is part of the MSR Wisp GNCC weekend, which includes the GNCC race on the Wisp ski slopes. ATVs race the Wisp Saturday, and motorcycles race Sunday. Photos of the bike have been out for a well over a year, but the bike will hit dealer floors this summer. A radical bike deserves a radical engine. The 1832cc six-cylinder Gold Wing-derived motor hasn't been left untouched, it has been hot-rodded to provide more than enough power to entertain even the pickiest horsepower junkie. It features six 32mm throttle bodies in the programmed-fuel-injection system. A 6.9-liter airbox supplies air, while a six-into-two exhaust system gets rid of the spent gasses. In addition the cams are new, as is the mapping of the ignition and the fuel-injection system. Honda claims the Rune will have more torque than any other OEM production motorcycle. The wheelbase, if you didn't guess already, is the longest in Honda's lineup at 68.9 inches. The rear single-sided swingarm features Unit Pro-Unk suspension inspired by the RC211 V MotoGP bike and the current CBR600RR. The biggest brakes that have ever been fitted to a production Honda streetbike handle braking duties. The front rotors measure in at a whopping 330mm with three-piston calipers chomping down on them; out back is an even bigger 336mm disc with a twin-piston caliper. As for the styling ... all you can say is that it's definjtely radical. The bike is derived directly from Honda's T2 concept bike - one of four concepts that were shown at the 2000 60ng Beach Motorcycle Show. It's great to be fast. but only a handful of individuals in any sport ever achieve financial security as an athlete. That's one reason that a solid education is so important for any young person, and also the reason that Cycle News has prompted Honda to see if building such a bike was feasible on the assembly line. The initial answer was no. After further research, however, and the implementation of several new manufacturing and assembly techniques, Honda's R f, D department decided that they could make it work, and the rest, as they say, is history. national Raceway in just over two Gobert suffered in the Daytona crash, now 15 months ago, and that the doctors in Milwaukee. where he was taken weeks' time.
