Dragoon Creek Motocross Track: At round three of the Sunflower State Series, Matt Lyda (14) won both the 125cc Intermediate and 250cc Intermediate classes in Lyndon, Kansas. by passing Jered on the popper. Two jumps later, though, Nick crashed, and Jered got back around him. Jered held off the rest of the pack to take the checkered nag. Nick finished up in second, and Jordan Sitz was third among the Schoolboys. Stewart finished first among the Collegeboys. It was a day with lots of great races and no mishaps - not bad for a Sunday afternoon out on the prairie. Results 50 (4-6): J. Nell Tajchman (KTM); 2. Dillon LJoyed (KTM); 3. Nathan Kennedy (KTM); 4. Hollister Hills GP Track Iwanaga. Holland Hot at Hollister By RANDY HElM HOLLISTER, CA. MAY 18 As summer finally hit. the Mutant Motorsports Summer Warm~Up event couldn't have had a more appropriate appellation. More than 300 riders showed up to bang bars one more time before going into the upcoming Summer Series. Damon Iwanaga. Rusty Holland and Jeff Pestana were just a few of the riders who were ready for the heat; each of them won at least one of their respective classes. Iwanaga was on the gas this weekend, tak~ ing a win in the 60cc Novice class and placing second in the 60cc (9-1 I) contest. In the Novice class, Iwanaga was on his game, pulling two holeshols over his competition. The Kawasaki pilot from Gilroy went on to win both motos as well, making it a clean sweep in the Novice division. Runner-up honors went to local Hollister resident Matthew Sanchez, who went 2-2 on his KTM. Anthony Rodriguez rounded out the top three; the Salinas speedster was also riding a KTM. Iwanaga had his hands full in the 60cc (9-11) class with Tyler Bereman, who has been almost unstoppable lately. Bereman won both motos. Iwanaga was runner-up in each outing, finishing 2~2 for second overall. Once again, Rodriguez rounded out the top three, with a consistent 4~3 finish. Jeff Pestana came out to race and took home a win in the 125cc Pro class. The Honda pilot split moto wins with Adam Miller. Moto one was all about Miller, from start to finish. The Yamaha jockey grabbed the holeshot and set the pace. Pestana played the tailgater, but he was unable to make a move on the rider from Prunedale. Pestana finished second. with Matt McCrummen taking third. When the gate dropped for the second moto, Pestana led the way. Miller gated midpack and had to work his way to the front. The seasoned Pestana held his own up front and took the win. Before it was over, Miller had worked his way up to the second spot. McCrummen again finished third, which netted the Suzuki rider third for the day. Holland showed up to win, and that's pretty much what he did each time the Honda rider was on the track. Holland won both motos in the 250cc Pro class, as well as the featured four-lap Dash For Cash. Holland got the holeshot in both Pro motos and put together perfect laps to win in each outing. Billy Jurevich was the closest to Holland, finishing second in both motos for second overall. The Suzuki rider has been picking up the pace as of late, and he's a threat to win each time he's on the track. Third for the day went to Matt McCrummen, who went 5-3 on his RM250. Hollister Hills GP Track: Damon Iwanaga was all business in the 60cc Novice class, sweeping both motos for the overall at the Mutant Motorsports Summer Warm-Up event in Hollister, California. 125 NOV: l.
