road racer across the
cover of Issue '24 on
his way to winning the
Loudon AMA Road
Race. He not only won
the Formula One event
over Kenny Roberts
(Yam) and Gary Scott
(Tri). he also won
the 250cc event over
Roberts and Gary Fisher (Yam) ... An editorial piece by H.G. Hardy chronicled the
troubles that African-Americans were having getting into motorcycle sports. His
conclusion was that it had nothing to do
with their ethnicity, but rather their more
challenged socioeconomic state ... Barry
Briggs wrote in a story about how the
Commies were taking over speedway racing, citing examples Walerij Gordejew and
Grigorij Hlinowski, who were winning with
apparent frequency ... A mullet-laden "pit
tootsie' was photographed filling a Speedway machine up with alcohol with a lit cigarette in her mouth.

We rode the new
Suzuki GS750ES road
rocket on the cover of
Issue 4124, and we concluded that the bike
was indeed the secondbest Superbike on the
market - behind the
Honda V45. It retailed
for $3499...
Ron
Lechien (Yam) topped
his second Wrangler Super Series event in
a row, this time a 125cc National at Lake
Whitney, Texas. His 1-2 topped the 4-1 of
Jeff Ward (Kaw) and the 3-3 of Mark Barnett (Suz). BiJly Liles (Kaw) swept both
250cc motos, while Broc Glover (Yam) did
the same in the 500cc class... Mike Baldwin (Hon) won the Formula One AMA
event at Loudon, New Hampshire. Miles
Baldwin (Yam) and Nick Richichi (Yam)
rounded out the top three.

update. Schwantz was
leading the series on

ridden .•... Doug Polen (Due) won the AMA
Superbil
