In the Open Pro Twin class, he gained the lead on the second lap and refused to give it up. Hardman took home the first-place tro~ phy. Briggs crossed the line in second place, and William Snyder placed third. The Modern Open Unlimited class was a fight worth watching. Briggs took the lead on lap two and held tight all the way to the finish line. Kurt Boehlke went from a fourth~place start to catch up with, but not pass, Briggs and claim the second-place prize. Results AMA Waco Eagles Motorcycle Clubgrounds -Midway Motorsports Park: Brad Lentz styles over the tabletop jump en route to four wins out of four motos in Mitchell, Indiana. wire to wire in all four motos. Steve Banet finished second in both molos of the 250cc A class on an Outback Steakhouse KTM, followed by Mitchell Corbin, on a Yamaha. Jeff Yeager finished second to Lentz in both motos of the Over 25 A class on a Yamaha. Yamaha-mounted Tim Pridemore dominated the 125cc A class, taking the holeshot and holding on for wire-le-wire wins in both motos, in front of Yamaha rider Will Busick. Brent Lee took both moto wins of the 250cc B class on a Hills 4X4 Yamaha. Lee took the holeshot in the first moto, in front of Yamaha-mounted Mike Corbin and Kawasaki jockey Joshua Thornton. Lee went the distance for the win, with Corbin applying pressure the entire moto. Nick Volkoff, on an Indy Cycle Yamaha, took third place from Thornton on lap three, and Jud Casebeer finished fifth on a Kawasaki. Corbin took the holeshot in the second moto, but a problem on the first lap dropped him to sixth place. Casebeer moved into second place, behind Lee, for second overall, with Thornton finishing third in the second mota for third overall. Volkoff and Corbin followed. Lee also took both moto wins in the 16-24 class, in front of Suzuki jockey Tyler Janney. Robert McCarthy took both moto wins in the 125cc B class on a Team One Yamaha, in front of Volkoff. In moto one, Volkoff nailed the holeshot, in front of McCarthy, but McCarthy pressured Votkoff for two laps in a close battle before taking the lead on lap three for the win. McCarthy took the holeshot in the second moto and went the distance for the win, with Volkoff applying pressure the entire moto. Honda rider Chris Sheets claimed third overall with a consistent 4A score, in front of Yamaha riders Seth Weinheimer and Eric Boyd. The C classes were the largest of the day. Yamaha-mounted Tom Kennedy took the win in the 250cc C class with a 3·1 tally. Jared Chastain claimed second overall with a 2~2 tally on a Yamaha, in front of Honda rider Ronald Novak (1·3). Richard Barrow finished fourth in each mota, followed by Wesley Cummings on a Cycle Tech Yamaha. Thor Kawasaki jockey Bryan Fiscus took the holeshot and held on for both moto wins in the 125cc C class. Yamaha rider Les Parrish took second overall with a 4-2 score, in front of Suzuki-mounted Michael Thomas (2-4). Laurin Terry Nichols, Hardman Top Waco Half Mile By JENNIFER WILSON WACO, TX, MAY 4 Spirits were high at the South Central Champ· ionships Half Mile races hosted by Checkered Flag Productions and the Waco Eagles Motor· cycle Club in Waco, Texas. Sunday's events started off with Jake Lewis from Princeton, Kentucky, taking first place in the 50cc Senior (7 ·8) Stock class. Jamie Wood from Denison, Texas, crossed the finish line in second place. Travis Sands rode hard to take the third-place trophy. Texan Matt Castloo put in a spectacular performance in the 85cc DTX (9·13) class. Castloo came off the starting line in second place, pulled ahead of leader Nick Page on the fourth lap, and maintained that lead to win the race. Page crossed the finish line a very close second, and third place went to Daniel Larocca. Shane Arndt from Fort Collins, Colorado, took the holeshot on his Wood Rotax in the Pro Sport 505cc class and held on to place first. Scott Beckley focused on the finish line and made his Vor perform to carry him from a fourth-place start to a second-place finish. Joel Lacer from Chapman, Kansas, took third place on his Yamaha 450cc DTX bike. The riders of the Over 50 Amateur class fought a heated battle. John Gregory held the lead until the final lap, when he was passed by Gary Pettis and left in a cloud of dust. Pettis had struggled up from fourth spot to finish first. Gregory finished second, and Richard Merlo placed third. William Burr from Fort Collins. Colorado, took the lead in the Over 60 Pro·Am Super Senior class, and he rode like the wind to cross the finish line in first place. Richard Woods from Round Rock, Texas, followed him in second. Although Bob Ives started the race in fifth, during the final lap he roared into third and finished there. Steve Nichols of Tulsa, Oklahoma, took the holeshot in the 600cc Pro event and main~ tained the lead to take the win. Russell Briggs placed second.
