Red Bull IfTM's Grant Langston Just as in 2001, Mike Brown chased Langston at the front for much of Glen Helen's second mota. road; I've got a bunch of good friends .. , I wouldn't want to leave all them. Have you been training with Ryan Hughes? We've been out riding a few times together most of those times I was on a 250. We've only ridden once together when we were both on 125s, so not aJi that much. bit of a reputation with the ladles, Q You've got a of spurred on by the guys over at mostly kind Transworld Motocross. Do you think that affects your racing at all? 1Laughs] I'd probably have to say you need to talk to my mechanic and my trainer about that. A Wh Y do you think KTM had such a hard time with the 250 in supercross this year? I just don't feel we had the motorcycle set up. I can think of a lot of little things, but that's the main reason. Q A After your career's over, are you planning on sticking around in the U.S., or are you planning to go back home to South Africa? I've made up my mind. I've said I love it here. I've gone back home every year', and I don't even know if I'm going to this year. I think I'd rather do things like go to Hawaii and maybe do some touristy things over here. I'm planning to hopefully marry an American girl someday and have a family. Kind of like what Albee did. Just because I can say I love it out here. It fee.ls like home, I have my immediate family with me that live four miles down the What do you think of all of your teammates in the 125cc class last week? Five out of the top 10 were KTMs. I think it's awesome, you know? I'm almost used to being the' lone ranger out there. I remember in '01, it was me, and [ felt like I'd see a bunch of Kawis around me or Hondas or Yamahas or whatever. Now, you know, Ryno's up there, I think Metcalfe's going to do real well, so it's kind of a team again. Everybody's trying to outperform each other and ride hard, and I think it's good. It's a good, friendly rivalry, and it kind of pushes everyone, so at the end of the day I think it'll benefit all of us. If you had a crystal ball and you asked it about this season we're in right now, what would you expect to see in it for the end of the year? I would see myself winning quite a few rounds hopefully half of them. I could see me and Brown battling, Ryno in there, I think when Bubba comes back, he'll be in there, and I think I can see me and him going at it at a few r'aces. And I can just see myself crossing the finish line at Steel City with my hands in the air, someone holding a number-one plate... That's my crystal baJi right now. eN (Above) Langston gets some love from Red Bull KTM team manager Lany Brooks at Hangtown. He's popular with the fans and the ladies alike. (Left) He had trouble finding his rhythm at Hangtown, but even so, he finished fifth overall and remains In the championship hunt. ' neVIl's
