dropped his GSX-R600 in tum two. The order
going into tum three on the first lap was last
year's class champion, Jim Lester, on his
Honda F4, followed by GSX-R600 rider Scott
Greenwood and Brian Kent, riding the new
Kawasaki 636.
Greenwood made quick work of Lester,
and once in front he was never challenged for
the lead - or the $500 check that came with
the win. While Kent and Des Conboy mixed it
up down the straight on lap two, John
Scheehser sneaked up on them. On lap three,
Kent, Lester, Conboy and Scheehser got really
tight going into tum three, battling for the second-place money. Once past Lester, Conboy
again tangled with Kent coming down the
back straight on lap four. Wood was working
his way through the pack after his fall and
managed sixth by lap four. By lap six
Scheehser had stuck it in between secondplace Conboy and Kent, who was now running
fourth. Scheehser took second down the front
straight on lap seven. Conboy didn't give in,
riding right with Scheehser from tum two to
turn six, where Scheehser finally started
putting some distance on Conboy. It was too
late to make a run at Greenwood, so
Scheehser settled in for a second-place finish,
followed by Conboy, Kent, Wood, Lester,
Christopher McNei and Thor Verdonk, who all
took home some of that purse.
