Mini was Team OZ Racing, tuming 68 laps on
their Honda RS60.
After five hours of racing and 212 laps of
the Five-Hour Big-Bike Endurance event,
Team Vinyl Edge Racing, out of Spring,
Texas, won the Unlimited GP class by one lap
over ICE Motorsports, on a Suzuki TL-Rl 000.
North Texas Yamaha, on a YZFR6, won the
Middleweight Supersport class and took fourth
overall after dueling for the overall lead during
the first hour. Nemesis Motorsports/RideSmart
race.
K&N's Tyler McDonald, 13, and West Side
Racing's Jay Deaton that Saturday morning's
race was a two· hour Mini Endurance race. The
pair went at it at sprint-race speeds for almost
50 minutes. McDonald and Deaton accounted
for no less than 35 lead changes in the first
hour of the race, sometimes twice in the same
tum. At the start, McDonald took advantage of
his light weight, grabbing the holeshot, with
Deaton and Spotted Dog Racing in pursuit.
Deaton, riding solo on a Moriwaki 80, took the
lead in the "Wagon Wheel" turn on lap two
and over the next two laps extended it to an
eight-second gap.
"We told Tyler to take it easy for the first
few laps," said Norm McDonald, owner of
Team K&N. "The track is pretty slick from the
rain, and we wanted him to work up to it."
By lap 17, McDonald had gotten his slicktrack legs under him and reeled Deaton in. On
brought the team home with one lap to spare.
At the checkers, it was Team Vinyl Edge Racing taking the win, with ICE Motorsports takfin~

"I built a lead on him," said Deaton. "Then
light morning mist made the ·1.7~mile track a
bit tricky. while storm clouds threatened to
dump rain on the proceedings early on, but
fortunately the rain moved on. and the races
were held under overcast skies.
Someone must have forgotten to tell Team
track 47 seconds behind ICE, but Prussiano,
who rode the final two stints for Vinyl Edge,
