Steve Nace prepared a beautiful track that developed a 10-foot groove that resulted in close racing throughout the night. Gruwell followed Mike Dunaway just one lap before going to the top of the groove for the pass en route to the Vet-class win. Dunaway held on for second. over Gene Yopp. Gruwell also had the Open Amateur class covered with a Iight·to·flag run. Jon Goodwin ran a close second, over Tyler Porter. Skeeter Williams and Jordan Jenkle. In the Senior class. heat winner Scott Mclaughlin led the pack, with Dennis Porter, Yopp and Bill Zentmyer in hot pursuit. With two laps left, Yopp found a high line around to narrowly defeat Mclaughlin at the line. Porter nipped Zentmyer for third. Aaron Ladd led the Open Pro-Ams down the back straight, with Chase Sconyers look· ing for an opening. He found it on lap two with an inside pass into turn three. Sconyers never bobbled and held on for the win, over Ladd, Goodwin, Jason Schlesinger and Kyle Kelly. Ladd found himself in front again in the Open Pro final - until turn three, where Coty Bowland made a bold move for the lead up the inside to take the lead. Bowland's lead lasted a lap before Ladd slipped back underneath to retake the point, bringing Sconyers and Jason Goodwin with him. Ladd stayed on the bottom of the groove to take a close victory over Sconyers. Bowland wound up third, with Kelly fourth. Jason limped home on an ailing bike for fifth. Ladd also took the TT win with a convinc· ing ride, over Sconyers and Tyler Porter. Hayden Gillim went unbeaten in the 200cc classes.
