arry Hawk's rise to the top of
~the AMA Grand National Cross
Country Series has been anything but
predictable. After winning the supermuddy Hurricane GNCC in Florida a
few months ago, for once people
were actually expecting him to
win the all-new Rausch Creek round
of the AMA Grand National Cross
Country Series in Pennsylvania. The
weather forecast called for severe
storms (including a tornado to touch
down on the area during the race),
and since Hawk mastered the aptly
named Hurricane a few months ago,
there was no reason to think he
couldn't keep his dream season alive.
But the weather predictions, as
usual, were wrong. The tornado never
hit, and the threatening sk.ies never
really opened up. But Hawk managed
to deliver for the prognosticators anyway, winning his second GNCC in a
row and his third on the season.
"This was a lot of fun," said Hawk,
who further extended his series points
