HARRY MILLER Rick" Graham 20" x 24" 1993 Grand National Champion Lincoln Trail Motosports Clark, Hopkins Work Magic at lIIini Opener Da"e" Camlin By BROC MIKEL CASEY, IL. APR. 6 This being the 3D-year anniversary of Uncoln Trail Motosports, the track and staff have a lot to celebrate, including that they will host the ATV National, the Fall Classic Four-Stroke National, the State Motocross Championship race, and many Vintage events. This year, every event of the Jllini Series will be held at Lincoln Trail. With contingency from Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Husqvarna and (new this year) Yamaha. there are plenty of reasons for riders to contest the lIIini series! Round one featured cold weather but hot racing! Cool temperatures and overcast skies left the track in great shape all day. Just returned from a wrist injury, Team Green's Shawn Clark set out to take it to the bank in the 125cc and 250cc A events, but in the 125cc A class, Clark was robbed by Yamaha rider Matt Hopkins. In moto one, Hopkins had his YZ250F on the gas, kept his head down and took the moto win, with Clark in tow. Suzuki rider Brad Modjewski finished third. As the second moto came to the line, it was even money as to who would take the win. When the gate dropped, Hopkins again showed the pack the fast way around the track and went on for the moto and overall win. Clark had his Kawasaki on the pipe and finished second for the mota and overall. Modjewski was third in the mota and overalL When the 250cc A class lined up for the second mota, something was missing: Hopkins, who didn't have a 250cc bike on hand. Therefore, all money was on Clark. It was a smart bet, as Clark had his Kawasaki on the gas, out front and trucking. Modjewski kept him honest but couldn't get ahead of him. Clark took the win, with Modjewski second. Third went to Suzuki rider Roy Horton. The second mota was more of the same, with Clark out front for the mota win and the overall. Modjewski again crossed the line in second for second overall. Behind them, Yamaha rider Kody Molitor got in front of Horton at the line for third in the moto; Horton finished fourth for the moto and third overail. The age classes just seem to get more popular. One of the most popular has to be the Over 30 B class. Chris Ruble and Christopher Gemme had their Yamahas out in front of the pack all day. Ruble took the wins in both motos for the overall, while Gemme finished second in both motos and overall. Yamaha rider Robert Connley finished third in the first moto and behind Scott Goodman in the second moto. but that was good enough for third overall. All the races are good at Lincoln Trail.
