father, Kenny, put in countless hours assisting promoter 8.J. Greco in revamping his facility, making Beans a first-class racecourse for riders of all skill levels. All that work paid off, as the opener was very successful, drawing nearly 400 riders to the two-day opening weekend. The racing was also first-rate, with many of Ohio's top racers takjng on a flood of competitors from nearby District 5 in Pennsylvania. No stranger to the front of the pack was Navarre, Ohio's A.J. Hattery, who won in both the 125cc B class and the 125cc Schoolboy division. Riding for J&J Motorsports, Hattery fin· ished second to Orient's John Wisenbarger in the first 125cc B moto, while Ryan Coleman rounded out the top three. Moto two saw F&S Suzuki hotshot Zach Ames jump out front on his RM 125, and he held the point for two laps before the VZ250F ·mounted Wisenbarger negotiated his way around. Hattery started in fifth but quickly worked his way into con· tention and was hounding the leaders by the end of lap three. He finally worked his way around them and, after an exciting duel, secured the win, earning the overall victory. Wisenbarger would rebound from that loss to take two moto wins in the Collegeboy (16-24) class, and Zach Ames worked some magic, coming from bad starts to run away with the top spot in Supermini competition. Topping both of the A classes was local rider David Hill, who finished a very respectable 16th at the Pontiac 125cc Super· cross a week prior. Hill was not uncontested, however, as fellow National competitor Kevin Beloy put his 450cc thumper into the top spot in the first 250cc moto, with upcoming Pro Matt Barnes in second on his Team Green Kawasaki. Hill was able to rebound in the second molo, however, putting his M2r/No Fear/Spy/Tag Metals ride into the overall position when Beloy crossed the line in third and Barnes again finished second. Hill also took both motos in the 125cc A division, with Barnes a solid second. Beloy encountered problems and couldn't start the final moto, opening the door for Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania's Chad Boyd to round out the 125cc A podium. In Pee Wee action, the riders were in for a treat, as they were given the full, big bike track to race on! With lap times over three minutes and with four laps to race, these were probably some of the longest motos these kids have ever entered. One rider who made full use of the long motos was Akron's Zachary Knotts, riding his Polini 50ce to both moto wins in the older 7- to 8-year-old division. Alex Nay of Newcomerstown and Joshua Boyd of New Cumberland, West Virginia, hashed it out in the 50cc (4-6) class, with each taking a moto win. Nay won the second moto and the overall. ~TOYOTA AfDUNZtOP ",..
