Ui was steadfast throughout,
resisting fearsome sustained attacks
from Italian teenager Dovizioso. The
rest shuffled spasmodically, with
Pedrosa moving up to second for a
couple of laps after half distance and
Jenkner showing strongly in second
toward the finish.
Only one lap would matter, and it
Cecchinello had been seventh for
most of the race, nosing clear from the
next group. But when Mika Kallio got
the front of it, he closed up again, and
at the finish his Honda was ahead,
with Azuma's similar bike right behind.
Casey Stoner had been with the
group but was four seconds adrift by
the finish, narrowly ahead of the next
gang who had closed up, with Gino
