rna. On the second loop. Fujinami made the best score. nine points. failing again in section five. It was not enough to improve his position. Freixa kept his concentration. scored 11 and won. ahead of Lampkin (14) and Jarvis. DAY TWO Three sections were modified to make them more difficult. Freixa and Kuroyama cleaned the first seven sections before arriving at the first modified section: number eight. The section included a big step to be faced after a turn of 90 degrees and a start on dusty rocks. The run-up space had been reduced from day one. but the clever riders found a way to climb the ledge while facing it on one side after going out of the imaginary line drawn by the entry gates. The maneuver is allowed by rule. but the 90-second time limit forced the riders to make it in a hurry. taking a risk in the final part of the section. which required them to climb two other big steps. Both the provisional leaders finished out of time and collected two heavy fives. On the contrary. Lampkin cleaned it. and Jarvis did. too. though there was a controversy with the observer. who first gave Jarvis a five. claiming that Jarvis had crossed the line and ridden in the opposite way. After a discussion with Jarvis' minder. the observer changed his mind. At the end of the first loop. the situation was quite uncertain. Kuroyarna led with nine points. same as Jarvis. but the Japanese also took two points for the delay. and so he was caught by Lampkin. Freixa was fourth. with 12 marks. Fujinami was close behind them. with 15 points. The second loop was again ridden on the edge. and the normally cool Lampkin suffered in section three for the second time; he fived. same as on the first loop. Freixa ran into trouble at section 10. and it seemed as though Kuroyama might finally be able to clinch a win. but he suddenly fived section 11! At the end. three riders were within one point: Freixa scored 19 and won again. Lampkin and Kuroyama were tied at 20. with the former breaking the tie by virtue of the greater number of cleans. Fujinami's good second loop (eight points) placed him in fourth position. eN @YAMAHA~ ~DiTNLD;: 'r'RADIAl ROVER .".I.G.H.'
