Ray C Racing's Fritz Kling moved to third in class on the '03 R6. Tight Squeeze continued to lead in the Lightweight Superbike class, at I Ith overall. With one hour to go, four bikes hit the asphalt and brought out another red flag. One bike went down in turn 12, one in turn 10, and two in the esses. Krystyna Kuban of High Ball Racing was laying face down on the track with a couple of broken ribs. The bikes returned to the pits again. With 45 minutes left in the race, the green flag flew for the final time. The top four teams again remained the same as in the fifth hour. Team Info Tech/Valter Moto made the big push to move into fifth, replacing Team Xtreme Pennzoil. Northern Getaway held down seventh. The battle on the track was among three Middleweight Superstock bikes. Ray C Racing had the upper hand, with Ricochet Racing and Team Velocity Racing on the same lap. Neighbor of the Beast, with their new R6, ran a lap back in 11 tho Tight Squeeze II had a three-lap advantage over their closest rival, Twin Works Factory. A couple of minutes before 5 p.m. and the end of the race, Fritz Kling experienced an arm cramp and ran off the track. Before he could get back in the action, Ray C Racing fell to fourth in class. Vesrah Suzuki started the 2003 season the way they finished the '02 season: by winning their class and the overall victory. Velocity Crew Racing played bridesmaid to Army of Darkness again in this race in the Middleweight Superb ike class. Team Info Tech claimed the victory and the $2000 from Yamaha. Nicky Wimbauer, at 15, became the youngest rider to win a National Endurance. With a move up in class, Team Xtreme Pennzoil JI became a force to deal with in the Heavyweight Superstock class. "This track is a challenge, and the challenge is what makes this fun: said Tray Batey of Vesrah Racing. "It is too bad there are not more bikes in the Open class; the Thousand [GSXRlOOOJ is a born-and-bred endurance bike. They don't wear out parts - they are just fun to ride." Steve Clark of Tight Squeeze II said he turned over the plans for the race to his team captain: "Chris Normand told me we were going to race this race as five sprint races; we are going to run the best laps as we can, as many time as we can." The hard- luck story from this race came from XZ Racing. After racing a solid second in the Heavyweight Superstock class for 5 1/2 hours, their transponder came off their 929 Honda. Being a rookie endurance team, they didn't have a human scorer. They lost seven laps and second place in class. Their lead rider was Sergeant Benn Trescott, a jump instructor in the U.S. Army. Though his company is now in Iraq, he is stationed in the United States to continue to instruct troops on how to jump out of an airplane at 130 mph. "I am here with the permission of my company commander, Captain Barcbrkocy: Trescott said. "This (Above) Team Info TechNalter Moto picked up their first win in the Middleweight Superstock class. (Right) Sgt. Benn Trescott was on the XZ Racing Honda 929 during the third hour of this six-hour endurance event. (Below) As the checked flag flies, Vesrah Suzuki (1) continues to lead Anny of Darkness (99) and Midcity Motorsports (93). goes up to my battalion-commander level; the battalion commander has fuJI faith in my riding ability." Trescott's post's newspaper is covering the racing endeavors of this full military team, active and reserves. Trescott said that when he was stationed in Italy, he raced over there. XZ Racing intends to race the entire WERA National Endurance Series this year. eN Jennings 6P Jennings, Florida Results: March Z9, Z003 [Round 11 L/W S/BK: I. Tight Squeeze Racing II (SUI 650).
