No pre-entry required at Area Qualifiers www.mxsports.com speed average and zeroed the emer· gency check located at the end of the test. Jenks was the speedster here, as he somehow managed to come through check five just 43 seconds into his minute. Mike Lafferty was next quickest, coming through at 50 seconds. David Lykke tied Rich Lafferty, as they both rode through at 51. And Hawkins was the only other rider to zero this check, coming through just eight seconds before the flip of the card. Riders had ample time at the first gas stop that was positioned near the start to adjust, regroup and prepare for the section to follow. A 17-mph speed average resulted in only a few "possibles" through the next 10 miles of easy trail. The check-in for the next section was located in a very sandy ditch at 58.6 miles, where the speed average went to 30 mph. Once again, Jenks burned the check here and lost two unneeded points. Racers throttled into another points-robbing test. The first check-out located midway through the forest took just two points from most of the faster racers. The final emergency check· out for the test was topped again by Mike Lafferty, who dropped just 270 emergency points. Jenks was next fastest at 287, chased by Hawk and Hawkins with 306 and 317, respectively. A short reset was followed by an eightmile woods connector run at 24 mph, leading riders back to gas. The final third of the enduro was traveled only by long-course participants, leaving out all Band Criders and some of the elder and special classes. Points-taking began after the known control restart located at 96.1 miles. The route following was a repeat of the morning course, except the trail conditions appeared much more slippery. Many riders spoke of the section as being greasy or snotty, as the 24-mph speed average took points from all participants. Again, it was Mike Lafferty with the best scores of two and five at the check-outs. Only Hawkins could match Mike Lafferty's scores by going two and five. Check 14 ended up being the last score used, as check 15 was thrown out because of incorrect clocks. Riders had made it back to camp and scores were being posted when Mother Nature decided to unleash a series of downpours, delaying protest periods and award presentations. Regardless, the Acadiana Dirt Riders managed to award trophies and send participants on their way home. The event was a great time enjoyed by all of the racers and established some solid ground toward the year-end points chase. ~ Kisatchie National Forest Forest Hills. louisiana Results: April 6, Z003 [Round 3J O/A: 1.
