y Davis carved his way through
the snow and the muck to win his
third World Off-Road Championship
Series race of the year at the Carbon
(Right) Ty Davis once again put
himself in the right spot at the right
time to take the WORCS round win in
County Fairgrounds in Utah. Davis,
who also won here last year, had to
deal with conditions that were quite
the opposite of what he had to overcome a year ago, when the hot sun

and dry conditions left the course
covered in a brown cloud of dust. You
could say there was dust this year,
too, but not the kind of dust that
western off-road racers are more
familiar with. This time, they had to
deal with a dusting of snow, which at
times made it difficult to see the
course (more so on Saturday than
on Sunday). The Carbon County
MX track experienced some of Mother Nature's wrath with an uncharacteristic April pelting of snow on
and off throughout the weekend. The
snow was a blessing in disguise for
Sunday's Pro race, however, as the
cold and wet stuff left the Utah course
damp and tacky, the kind of things
off-road riders live for. But, although
the snow came and went over the
weekend, the one thing that never left
was the cold, but that didn't seem to
bother Davis.
Davis' win, however, didn't come
without some plain old good luck.
Davis was leading when fellow Yamaha rider Lance Smail charged up from
behind and passed Davis in the latter
