at the unleashing of mota one and remained there. while Thompson charged through the pack to trail the Honda rider from Yamhill, Oregon, at mota's end. Mota two was a reversai, as Thompson held the point position, and Huege trailed Thompson after getting around Randklev and Travis McMackin in the early stages of the race. Overall, Thompson (2·1) ied the way, followed by Huege (1-2), KTM rider Devin Watson (3-3), Jacob Oberie (4-4) and Aaron Tunnell (5-8). In the adjoined Junior class. the Huskymounted Randklev aced both motos to gamer the win. followed by McMackin (2-3) and Suzuki rider Kyle Pachmayr, whose secondplace finish in mota two netted the rider from Myrtle Creek, Oregon. third overall. Both Thompson and fellow Intermediate Adam Metzler scored mota wins in the two 250cc Pro/Intermediate motos, but it was Thompson heading the field in the second contest. Both riders had one of the two Professional riders in the field, Jason Matthews, to deal with. although the Honda-mounted Matthews would be relegated to runner-up status in each outing. Despite such finishes, Matthews still scored the Pro-class win (ahead of Watson). Central Oregon Yamaha rider Danny Costa, who is brand-new to the Intermediate ranks. rode impressively to capture second overall (3-2). trailed by Metzler (1-7), who had earlier topped both 125cc Intermediate motos, and then Tunnell (4-8) and Huege (5-9). It was all Paterson in the Pee Wee (7-9) class, as the rider from Bend, Oregon, burned the competition in both motos. Paterson bolted out of the gate and never looked back, beating Cobra rider Jonathan Andrew and Husky pilot Brandon Barber in his successive wins. Barber overcame a dismal start in moto two to finish third, which was just what he needed to overtake Damon Barton for the position. After also winning the 50cc Open class, Paterson came back to win the 60cc Junior class, although this time he didn't enjoy the same dominance as in his earlier performances. Hunter Klug won the first moto but couldn't repeat in mota two, and Paterson won. One of the day's larger classes was the 125cc Juniors. Class front-runners Randklev and McMackin shared dominance in the two matos, but it was the local rider, Randklev, who snared the overall win by virtue of his mota-one win (and some bad luck on the part of McMackin). Moto two was won by McMackin, but his fourth-place finish in the opening mota aided in Randklev's overall win on a 1-3 tally. Pachmayr (4-2) again performed well, netting third overall, ahead of Trevor Jutila and Jon Der Hammer (son of '70s California motocross star Jon Der Hammer Sr.). who finished fifth in moto two. Yamaha rider Matt Wilson didn't have the banner day that the 15-year-old normally does in the Supermini class, and McClinton, the series points leader, took command after Wilson faltered in the early stages of both motos. McClinton went 1-1 to win overall (and become the class champion at the end of both motos), followed by Kawasaki rider Gared Steinke (2-2) and James Conn (4-3). Women's Motocross League National rider Traci Fleming made a rare appearance, but the outcome was much the same as it was on her last visit: a victory for the Washingtonian. The Yamaha-mounted rider did have Honda jockey Heidi Koerschgen to deal with, although on this day Koerschgen's win streak came to a halt. @YAMAHA~ ~DUNLD;; '7RADIAl ROVER llH ."ii/iii• .... ' "...
