between himself and the rest of the class. Halfway through the moto, McCutcheon mistimed a double and washed out the front end in a corner, handing the moto win to Dalton, with Moore second. The Over 30 riders ended their moto with KTM of Fayetteville's Eddy in front, followed by Carl Fowler, Brad Selleck and Mark Pauken. The second moto was all McCutcheon's. Moore, Eddy, Pauken and Dalton gave chase. Dalton, desperate to get around the KTMs of Eddy and Pauken, dived under both of them in a tight right-hander before the second uphill. McCutcheon slowly began to pull away from Moore and Dalton, and that would be how they finished. Eddy regained his lead and finished ahead of Fowler, Pauken and Selleck for the Over 30 win. "That first molo, my arms pumped up real bad as soon as I fell over in that comer, pretty much ending that one," said the ever-smiling McCutcheon. "This time, I just got out front and rode my own race." In 250cc Expert and Open Outlaw action, Outlaw rider McCutcheon took the early lead, followed by Pro rider Jeremy Watkins and Outlaw rider Dalton. There were only two Pro riders in this class, and there were five Outlaw riders. The other Pro rider, Shawn Wright, got a midpack start on his Honda CR 125, and thus he had to fight through traffic. Out front, it was all McCutcheon, followed by a hardcharging Watkins, Dalton and Wright. Dalton quickly passed Watkins and set out after McCutcheon. who had quite a lead by lap two. Wright seemed to be hampered by a faulty clutch, leaving him to fight a fading bike as well as a rough track. McCutcheon still led as they came out of the uphill section, but Dalton and Watkins got together and both went down, handing second to Yamaha-mounted Blake Gregory, and that's how the second moto ended, with Moore in third, Brandon Stanley in fourth and Datton fifth. Wright was credited with the Expert-moto win, as Watkins had pulled off with mechanical trouble. "Robert Reynard builds awesome motors, and my bike is running awesome tonight," said Wright. "1 just wish my clutch wouldn't have burned up. I want to go out this next moto and show them I can win this thing on my 125. I got the clutch problem worked out. It's going to be a good second moto, as long as I don't get stuck behind Tony's CR450; that might not be too fun." The second Expert/Outlaw moto .got off to a clean start. as all the riders escaped the gate with no trouble. McCutcheon again crested the hill with the lead, but this time Action Honda/Reynard Modifications/Spy/Troy Lee Designs rider Wright was right there on his CR125, applying the pressure. Right behind Wright, Brandon Stanley had the most spectacular crash of the night, narrowly missing a very large tree in the process. He eventually walked away under his own power. Back up front. Wright made his way around Dalton and McCutcheon and began to gap the field quickly, The man on the move behind them was again Gregory, on his YZ 125. Dalton battled with Gregory for second before going down and allowing Gregory and Moore to slip by for second and third. respectively, and that's how they would finish: Wright won the combined moto, and McCutcheon got his third moto win of the night, in the Open Outlaw class. "Man, it got kind of slick out there, with the moisture coming up," said McCutcheon after his near sweep of the four motos he entered at the grand opening of Sugar Creek MX. "Tommy was just riding awesome. He and Tony really made me work tonight, and I'm glad we all rode so good. The track is awesome, and we all had a real good time here tonight with all the good, close racing. My Viper Racing YZ250 is great.
