WASHINGTON, GA, MAR. 9
'l7here was a time when the top
U GNCC competitors only worried
about Mike Lafferty when the terrain
got tough. After all, Lafferty's pile of
AMA National Enduro titles pointed
to his superb skills in technical terrain, but his lack of GNCC success
meant he was a little less capable
once the races got longer and faster.
But last year Lafferty became a
threat in every GNCC event he
entered, so much so that the competition may have stopped thinking of
him as the master of the tough stuff.
But they were given a big reminder at
the supergnarly second round of the
AMA Grand National Cross Country
Series, The General GNCC in Wash-
(Top) Steve Hatch (4) and Jimmy
Jarrett (16) got good jumps at the
start of The General GNCC in Georgia,
but Hatch ended up sixth, and Jarrett
dropped out with mechanical
problems.
(Rightl Mike Lafferty has driven the
point home that he's now a serious
GNCC contender after scoring a
convincing win.
