heat. Dominic Beaulac and Coolbeth
also moved to the main.
The last heat turned out to be the
fastest as Russell led Jake Johnson
and Jason Tyer home.
Russell. Schnabel and Smith led
the 505 Expert main into the first
turn. The top three remained the
same at the end of the first lap. with
Kopp. Bigelow and Beattie right
behind. A lap later Smith ran into
problems and dropped to the rear.
Bigelow took over third as Russell
and Schnabel cruised. Kopp, Carr,
Beattie and Cool beth made up the
next pack. By lap five Carr had
moved his VOR up to Schnabel's rear
fender. Making quick work of Schnabel. Carr locked onto Russell, bringing Schnabel along. On lap 10 Carr
blasted into the lead. and the top
three positions were set. Coolbeth
worked his way up to fourth over
Bigelow, Kopp and Johnson.
Though a small class. the HarleyDavidson Sportster Performance
class was highly competitive. Irvin
went undefeated for the night. but the
racing behind him was fierce. John
Faulkner JJJ celebrated his new ride
aboard the Frieze Harley-Davidson/
Rowe USA-backed Sportster with a
second. Tilley Harley-Davidson's
Shane Fox filled out the podium over
Bob McLendon III, Clint Erickson,
Mike Beland and Ben Siudara.
The big boys with the big toys
were the last to hit the track. There
were 32 entries in the 750/1000
class. KTM Sport Motorcycle
USA/Jones Powersports' Cool beth
won the first heat over Johnny Murphree. Paul Lynch and Schnabel.
Moroney's Harley-Davidson's Mike
Hacker won the second and fastest
heat of the night. Carr. Johnson and
Russell also moved to the main. Kopp
took the last heat over Tyer. Jess
Roeder and Chris Hart.
In the main Murphree got the hole
shot and led Carr and Kopp into the
first turn. Kopp took over first on lap
two. with Hacker slipping into third as
Carr dropped back into the pack. The
man on the move was Coolbeth, and
he was soon in pursuit of his teammate, Kopp. The two KTM-backed
riders pulled safely ahead as Murphree and Hacker battled over third.
Lynch was alone in fifth with Carr.
Johnson, Russell and Roeder bunched
up behind.
