Sorensen left relatively pleased, though he wasn't a match for Oliver on this day. "Rich is always a great competitor to ride with," Sorensen said. "We had quite a good weekend coming out from the winter. The bike was working good and handling really well, and we had some great motor. Today, I just couldn't get the drives up the bank to hold that draft, so it was tough today. I'm happy we got to race today, and it worked out really well. The Team Stargel crew worked long hours this weekend to make that thing the best they could." Turner had a lonely run of it in third. He started there, and he finished there, running the entire race by himself. Turner knew he wasn't going to be able to run with the lead duo, but things might have been closer if he hadn't lost third gear early in the race. "I kinda figured I wasn't going to be able to run with these boys, so I figured I'd kind of make a break at the start and just ride the race," Turner said. "I lost third gear pretty early in, and it was a bit frightening because every time I put it in third, it would go click, click, click. I was having to go second to fourth, and I'm just glad the race is done so I can hang about here." Jensen managed to pull clear of the Sorbo/Melneciuc battle that went all the way to the finish line. At the line it was Sorbo who took fifth, with Melneciuc sixth, the pair separated by just .015 of a second. Then there was another big gap back to All America Home Inspection's Chris Pyles, who in turn had plenty over Brit Neil Richardson - the last rider to finish on the lead lap, as Oliver lapped through to eighth place. Californian Edward Marchini and Sweden's Ralf Hellstrom, meanwhile, filled the top 10, one lap behind Oliver. eN In your face.
