AMAfTHQ Supercross Series Round 10: Daytona International Speedway Feny, Cannlchael and eed celebrate on the ~~~~lfona podium. how close he was. I didn't realize... he had [fallen]. That was when he was right behind me. The last couple laps, I started looking back. I didn't see anybody." The person he would've seen was AmsoiljChaparral Honda's Travis Preston, as he was well behind the Yamaha rider. Overall, Preston put in a good race and survived a late-race charge by Lusk. "The beginning was a little chaotic; I stalled it in the back," Preston said of his race. "After I passed like [Sean] Hamblin and [Danny] Smith, I stalled it again, so all those guys got by me again. So I passed those guys back, and then I caught up to Lusk after he fell and passed him. I don't know if his bike was bent; I just got by him, then I felt good. I kind of got into a groove and just hit all my lines. I felt like I was riding slow, but not as slow as everybody else, I guess. That track was tough - I hate this place. This is the worst race in motocross, and for me to get fourth was pretty good." Lusk, one of only five factorybacked 250cc riders on the track, was making up for an earlier crash as he tried to reel in Preston late in the race. Lusk crashed on the 12th lap while running a distant fourth and was trying to get that spot back when the checkered came out on the 20th lap. He wasn't all that far behind Preston. Two seconds behind Lusk finished SoBe Suzuki's top rider Danny Smith, who started off 12th and steadily worked his way forward. Mach 1 Yamaha's Nick Wey finished right behind Smith but had plenty of room on MotoXXX's Larry Ward, who dropped back after snaring the holeshot. Ward settled into fifth not long after the start and moved up a position when Lusk crashed. But toward the end of the race, Ward got passed by Preston, Smith and Lusk. Mach 1 Yamaha's Heath Voss and Team Suzuki's Sean Hamblin rounded out the top 10. eN D_ytona Intlm_tional Speedway D_ytona B.ach, Florid_ Results: March B, 2DD3 (Round 1D of 161 250 HEAT 1 (7 laps, ] -5 transfer): 1.
