The headline story of the night, though, was Jesseman. Unlike most of the riders in the top six or so, Jesseman didn't have the luxury of getting ready for the ] 25cc Eastern Region opener by racing 250s on the West Coast like Sellards, Byrne, Brown and Tedesco. "For being my first race, and waiting such a long time, everything seemed like it was coming in slow motion," Jesseman said. '" didn't feel nervous at all. I was relaxed and focused on what I wanted to do. , rode my own little race, stayed in a descent flow and did what 1needed to do to win. But I still feel I can find some more speed, and we'll work on that for Atlanta." And was Jesseman surprised he was up there all alone? "Yes, , was," he said. "I was expecting Burner F e b r u a r y M a r c h 2 7 9 MYIONAe ~BY~ :. ;iI: , SUNDAY, MARCH 9,2003 [Byrne] to be up there, but I figured he had some trouble. I know each race isn't going to be that easy, but it's the kind of race you dream about. This week will be a lot tougher. Everybody's going to come out swinging even harder. We'll settle down after a few races, but it's nowhere near that point yet." eN Hubert H. Humphrey Metnldome Minneapolis.
