Erving found himself in second place, and Boram had to settle for third. On Saturday night, Weiss shot the hole but then lost his lead to a triumphant Boram, who finished first. John Henderson stuck hard to Boram's tail and finished second. Erving stepped on the gas and put on some spectacular speed to move from the fifth to third place at the finish. Daniel's Ridge Motocross Bryant a Giant at Daniel's Ridge MX By MARK NEOENS TAYLORSVILLE, NC. JAN. 26 After a week of cold and snow, the wind blew the dry snow from the track, and the track was then worked into great shape. But bitter cold and strong winds were on the way, and the more than 80 riders on hand at round eight of the Daniel's Ridge Fall/Winter Series voted to run an eight·lap, one-moto format in order to finish up before dark. Willy Baker, the lone 250cc B rider, took the holeshot. with 125cc C rider Jonathan Bryant right behind him. Bryant quickly went by Baker, while Mike Lefevers and Josh Brady were running third and fourth. Baker was tak· ing it easy, since he was the only one in his class, and Lefevers went by him to challenge Bryant. Lefevers got side by side with Bryant in the jump, but Bryant wasn't backing down. Meanwhile. back in the pack, Traver Wi!· son overtook Stephen Smith for the fifth spot. Brady was holding down the fourth spot, behind Baker. Bryant slowed and allowed Lefevers and Baker to get by. Bryant was not giving up, however; he went back to work on taking his position back. Baker went hard into the whoops to get side by side with Lefevers. Then he drove hard into the turn and came up under Lefevers to take the first spot. Baker slowed at the jump after the turn, and Lefevers, driving hard. caught Baker's back tire and did a nice flip onto his side. While trying to get his bike up, Bryant went by, along with Wilson, who had made the pass on Brady. Lefevers, trying to crank his fourstroker was a lap down before he got up and running again. The three leaders - Baker. Bryant and Wilson - started spreading out. Lefevers, now finally back up and running, came back on the track next to Baker and started running side by side with him. Baker took the turn too hard and slid out, though he nevertheless took the first position in the 125cc B class. The 125cc C-c1ass finishing order was Bryant, Wilson, Brady, Smith and Lefevers. In the 50cc Open class, Adam Bowen took the holeshot, followed by Bradley Sisson, who had Matthew Wedding trying to get underneath him. Next was Kevin Watson, followed by Tucker Smith and Jordan Smith, who were running side by side until Tucker pulled by in the first jump. Watson went down after the tum, and Tucker went by, but Watson quickly got back up before Jordan made the pass. Bowen was building a good lead, while Sisson was having a tough time holding off Wedding, who was looking for any chance he could find to get past Sisson. Even with the extra laps, Sisson held off Wedding to the checkered flag. Bowen took first, followed by Sisson, Wedding, Tucker, Watson and Jordan. The Race io-tbe RDcl~ies I Results 50 SHAFT: I.
