T
he final lap of the first-ever 2020 Styrian MotoGP,
held at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, will be replayed
for many years and will be remembered for the first
win by a Portuguese rider in the premier class, and the first
for Tech3 Racing after 20 years of trying.
In the 900th premier-class race since the world champi-
onship's inception in 1949, Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM
Tech3) pulled a last corner under-cut pass on both Jack
Miller (Pramac Ducati) and pole sitter, Pol Espargaro (Red
Bull KTM), to sprint to the finish line and score his maiden
MotoGP victory and KTM's second in three races.
WINNER—
Jack Miller (43)
dived up the inside
of Pol Espargaro (44)
on the final corner,
forcing both riders
wide and leaving
the door open for
an opportunistic
Miguel Oliveira (88)
to sneak through
and take a first-ever
win in MotoGP for
himself, his country
of Portugal and the
Tech3 team. It was
breathless stuff once
again in Austria.
