Mother Nature played a role in this one. Rain prior to both 250MX
motos resulted in wet and muddy conditions. "Difficult," "gnarly"
and "brutal" were the most common adjectives that the racers
used to describe the Loretta Lynn's 2 race. Justin Barcia (51),
however, loved it—at first. He dominated the first moto and rode
flawlessly the whole way except for one minor tip-over on the last
lap. After falling and pitting for a pair of goggles in the second
moto, Barcia's bike eventually overheated and quit running
(as did many other bikes on the day) as he was charging hard
through the pack. Chase Sexton (23) struggled in both motos.
Fredrick Noren (31) looked great in the first moto before falling.
