JAN. 11 Other than at the recent awards banquet. which was highlighted by Frank Derby's installation as the new ROTMX president and Scott Walker Sr. being crowned as the number~one rider, the Riverside Old-Timers haven't gotten together or raced for far too many weekends. So the first race of 2003 brought a very good turnout. with 91 very eager and determined ROTMXers ready to go. Dave Vicioso, just promoted from the Over 40 Novice class, hadn't lost any speed. as he led 21 other Over 40 Amateur riders every lap. He was amazingly fast en route to taking first place, and he was promoted again. up to the Expert ranks. Mark Barnes looked very impressive on his fast~moving Honda on his way to finishing second. Jim Roth was a speedy third. Richard Lamis wheeled over in fourth place, followed by a fast-moving-andgrooving Bruce Games. Mike Marek picked up sixth place, followed by Jeff Hawthorne. Marek came out with the lead in moto two, but by lap two a faster Barnes had whizzed past. Barnes kept pushing his Honda and beat them all to the finish. Lamis is generally in the winner's circle, and this day was no exception, as he crossed over in grand style, owning second. Games came in with third, and Marek chased him in. Joe Osteen was fifth, followed by John Williams. "Tell the"", you read about it in Cycle Nevvs££ r---------- ------------------7--~' I I I I I I I I • For FISJEST service atlacll lllailing label.
