GOLDEN, CO, JAN. 18
After the completion of RMXA's most successful se~son, 2002, more than 1100 members
and their families came out to honor RMXA' 5
best riders at the beautiful Denver West
Marriott in Golden. Colorado. The evening's
program included 6-foot-tall trophies for the
Summer and Spring Series champions. District 25 regional champions picked up their
number-one plates, as usual. An elegant dinner (with open bar) started off the festivities.
The show proceeded to honor retiring presi-
Yamaha rider Anthony Barbacovi was the only
rider to capture two number-one plates, topping both the Schoolboy and 125cc divisions.
Bryon Ward has finished in the top five overall
in the 250cc class for the past four years;
2002 was the year he finally put it all together
to claim the number-one plate. Robbie Dunham appears to have the Junior Vet numberone plate under wraps. as he topped all comers for the third straight year. Frank Costanzo
earned the lowest digit possible in the Vet
dent John Longwell, whose seven years of
ranks for the second consecutive time, and
Bam Simons will be sporting the number-one
plate in the Senior class throughout 2003.
leadership was recognized.

the club's special awards. Joe Shedron of JS
Proforma nee received the Sportsman of the
Year award for his dedication to the sport and
to other family racers; his son Joey put in an
'"I'm going Pro" year of racing, too.
The RMXA Rider of the Year was the everpopular Andy Atkins. who's been a champion
in the State of Colorado since he was on a
minibike. Always one of the best every time
he's on a bike. AtkJns, now over 3D, still wins
the all the Pro classes and keeps it real. He
really cares about helping the little racers .
Emcee Mark Kite worked his way through
the trophies and tons of giveaways from sponsors Cortez Trucking, Fay Myers, Colorado
Powersports. Pro Motorsports. Grand Drywall,
Fisher Landscaping, LSE, Pro Circuit, Tri-City
Cycles, Vickery Motorsports, Performance
Cycle, Sun Honda, Fox, Go Fast. JS Proformance, Racer's Edge. MX Photography, Moto
