Halfway through the race, the top three started to pull away, but the rest never stopped trying. The little guys still put out l00-percent effort but never seemed to be able to pull off a pass of any sort. On the last lap, Webb started to pressure Laible, but he just couldn't put anything together In time for the checkers. Behind One guy that most people have missed seeing on top for a while is the lightning-fast Joel Ard, but everyone got to see him get back into the thick of things at the seventh race of the Clark County Arenacross Series. James Hamilton snared the holeshot in the 125cc Intermediate main event, followed by Ard and Jason Laudemnilk. Only two comers into the race, Hamilton went down, letting the entire pack by; with apparent bike problems, he pulled off the track. With Hamilton gone, Ard found himself in the lead, and he held on to that lead with a grip of iron. Behind Ard was Laudermilk, followed by Dustin Lafave and James Barret; all of them were trying to nab that coveted second-place spot. Despite their best efforts, no one moved either forward or backward, and eventually everyone was spaced out by at least several seconds. Webb, Harriman started to get some serious pressure from Scott as the two raced through the whoops. but Harriman came out just bare- ly ahead of Scott for third. Laible greeted the checkers first, Webb was second. and Harriman rounded out the podium in third. Scott and Doane rounded out the top five. Double-class winners on the day included Cody Smith, in the 50cc Oil-Injected and 50cc Beginner classes; Cameron Norman, in the Daniel's Ridge Motocross Despite Ups and Downs - Goforth By MARK NEUENS TAYLORSVILLE, NC, JAN. 5 The weather at round three of the Fall/Winter Series in Taylorsville, North Carolina, was far better than that of the original rained-out date, making for a beautiful race day. In 50cc Shaft action, Ryan Reavis took the holeshot, followed by Jordan Smith, Cody Townsend and Josh Lingerfeldt. Smith went right to work on Reavis, pushing hard; finally Smith got beside him and made the pass. Then Smith took off and left Reavis a distant second. Meanwhile, Lingerfeldt was chasing Townsend and showing him a tire at every opportunity, but he just couldn't find a place to get by . Townsend held off Lingerfeldt until the last lap but then got crossed up in a rut 65cc Beginner and 65cc (4-8) classes; Shawn Haberlock, in the 85cc (12-15) and Supemnini classes; Garren Elmer, in the 250cc Junior and went down. Smith took first, Reavis was and Vet Intermediate classes; and Daniel was fourth. second, Lingerfeldt was third, and Townsend Daniel's Ridge Motocross: Tanner Wilson (117) and McCoy Goforth (110) battle in the Supermini class at round three of the FalllWinter series In Taylorsville, North Carolina.
