However, Alosi and Berryman are no strangers to competition or pressure, and they did what they needed to do to take the win. In an awesome display of skill, they led every lap, and their changeovers were smooth and almost rehearsed. "It took me a while to get comfortable and find the right lines," Alosi said after the marathon. They are also close friends, and each is the other's loudest cheering section during the motos. All this joviality was dispelled, however, when they took to the line as competitors. Lash seized the holeshot and asserted himself early, holding the lead. The track consisted of parts of JANUARY 29.2003' popular. There were familiar faces all loop. With those two truisms in mind, what better way to get off to an early start to the season than to continue with tradition and run the third annual Hangover Marathon? After on-and-off storms for nearly two weeks, at the top of track owner Larry Wosick's Christmas list was perfect weather for New Years Day. He got his wish, and everyone was all greeted with, well, perfect weather! With the sun out and the wind down, a light-hearted atmosphere was the entree du jour, with double orders of camaraderie on the side. The morning's festivities started out with individual motos, each being 45 minutes long. In the 250cc Expert class, the likes of Kenny Lash, Greg King and Michael Stanton took to the line.
