He ruled until Jack Kell impatiently charged past on lap two. Kell continued his winning ways and dominated the remaining five laps, earning the win. Willison hung in there and crossed over with second, and an always·speedy George Spearing scooped up third. The second mota was where things balanced out for Willison, as he held his strong and unshakable lead to the finish, ahead of Kell. Once again, a fast-moving Spearing powered across for third. The Over 40 Experts had their share of fast and skillful movers, and they really put on a great show. Gary Conner started the whole thing off, blazing out with the lead. Mike Brinkley then upped his pace and passed Conner on lap two. Skillfully, Brinkley managed to hold back the fast Steve Durschlag, who placed second, while Roc Townley sped in with third, and John Timmerman brought his Honda across in fourth, Timmerman got out in front but led only one lap of moto two. Townley then took over and held back Brinkley until the last lap. it ended as Brinkley, Townley, Conner and Timmerman. Results 40+ NOV: 1. John Estes (Yam); 2. Robert Dykman (Hon): 3. Todd (Yam): 5. BY MIKE "SIR SMILEY" RYER PERRIS, CA, DEC. 8 After the final round of the Perris Holiday Series, there were 1 1 class winners who had 10 points or less over the runner·up . five of whom had five or fewer points, such as in the 250cc Novice class, where Tyler O'Neill had just one point more than Nathan Terry. Andrew Terry finished third, while Landon Robbins and Brett Moscrop completed the top five. Bradley Taft won three of five rounds en route to his 50cc (4-6) Stock Series champ title. Ryan Surratt improved late in the series with three consecutive second· place finishes and placed second in the series chase. After missing round three, a 3-3 score in round five eamed Tyler Tungate enough points for third. After winning rounds two and three, Bryce Cords missed round four and finished fourth, ahead of Jose Ceja, who accumulated points in three rounds. Despite missing round three, ..Jumpin' Johnny" Jelderda still managed to take the series championship in the 60cc (9- 11) class by a mere five points over Colt Hubbs, who placed no worse than fifth throughout to claim the runner-up spot. "Bad Boy" Billy Brinker competed in all five rounds and had several top-five finishes, and he picked up third. Jeremy McCool finished fourth, while fifth place went to Bret Downey, who missed the final round but claimed a win in round three. Evan Menen finished with seventh overall, helping him take the points lead in the 125cc Beginner class. Menen took a win in round two and three third-place finishes to nudge Garrett Kingan by just nine points. Kingan finished with a 2·4 score for second in the final round, but a bad day of racing at round four tallied only six points. Daniel Ruiz started with a 10th in round one but then applied his experiences throughout the series to take the win in the last round with a 1-2 score. Ruiz finished third in the series, ahead of Karson Kavanagh, who won the fourth round, finishing fourth overall in the series, behind Ruiz, by just five points. Chance Newton also had a bad day at the track at round four, adding just three points to his total for fifth in the series. Curtis Malins put himself atop the 125cc Schoolboy class. Malins didn't win any of the rounds, but he stayed consistent to take the title. Team Weekend Warrior's Matt Ortega and O'Neill claimed the second and third spots with just 10 and 12 points, respectively, separating them from the title. Ryan Penhall claimed fourth despite an injury in round two that caused him to sit out round three. He came back strong with two top-five finishes to Racetown Beitcan Tops All in Adelanto By BOB ALLOY ADELANTO,CA,DEC.7 A last chance to rack up some additional points for 2002 served to motivate a grand total of 82 ROTMXers to attend the final race of the season. Things went very smoothly on Racetown's well· prepared track with its new starting gate. Scotty Walker Jr. dashed out in front and impressively sped along, leading the Master A class until a faster Ron Lawson leaped ahead on lap two. Lawson's lead was seriously threatened by the energetic and forceful power of Rich Beitcan, whose appetite for power proved too much for Lawson, as he was overtaken on lap three. Then Brian Otto, with his fast speed and determination, became Beitcan's problem, prOViding quite a challenge. Beitcan did all the right things and kept his lead and thus the top spot. Otto came out flying in moto two and kept his Kawi out in front for two laps. However, Beitcan was gaining momentum all the while, and he swooped past on lap two. He never slowed for the duration of the race and once again topped the winners' list. It's no wonder why Dave Eropkin was the overall winner in the Master B class. Hauling at super· speed and flying awesomely high over all those tabletop and double jumps had to give him the winning edge. Gil Williams had his Honda whizzing in moto one as well, and he was good for second. Steve Donaldson turned up his Yamaha's power and crossed over with second in moto two.
