CMC Northwest Winter Series Round 5: Forster Livestock Pavilion Tbe Hills Co STORY AND PHOTOS BY CLAY liGHT SALEM, OR, DEC. 13-14 ashingtonians Justin and Josh Hill captivated the chilled crowd inside Forster Livestock Pavilion on the second of two nights of racing at the Oregon State Fairgrounds, as the younger of the two brothers from LaCenter, Justin, waged a doubleclass decimation on Saturday with his 60cc Junior and 60cc Open-class wins. Josh, 13, was the dominant performer in the 80cc (12- 13) and Supermini classes that same evening. Another of the diminutive KTM riders on hand, Steele Angle-Davidson, stormed the arena on Friday night and had things going his way in overall 60cc Senior and 60cc Open class victories. The 9-year-old from nearby Turner won all four motos he entered, besting fellow KTM rider Nash Blaylock and Suzuki jockey R.J. Leach in his rout of the 60cc Open class. He then came back several motos later to top Blaylock again as well as Kawasaki rider Blake McMackin in the combined 60cc Open/60cc Beginner class. Polini rider Brayden Massey conquered the competition in two smalldisplacement classes, taking home the top brass in the Pee Wee (4-6) class, though he did trail the winner of the elder division, Pee Wee (7-8) winner Jonathan Andrew, in both motos, but finished ahead of the second-placed rider in the Pee Wee (7-8) class, Husqvarna rider Brandon Barber. Massey massacred the competition in the 50cc Open class, taking both moto wins ahead of KTM rider Nolan Beyer and Polini rider Croix Hogan. Andrew wasn't as fortunate in this class. as he trailed Massey in moto one and then came from a lap down to finish fifth in moto two, good for fourth overall. The order was Massey W (I-I), Beyer (3-2). Hogan (4-3), Andrew (2-5) and Alan Burggren (6-4). Husqvarna rider Nick Randklev has had an up-and-down season in the early stages of the CMC Northwest Winter Series, though on this particular evening he appeared to have things going his way. After trailing Yamaha rider Travis McMackin in the first moto, Randklev darted out of the chute in moto two to take the lead and held off Honda jockey Jason Lytle, the class points leader, for a victory, both in the moto and overall. Lytle used a 3-2 tally to maintain his points lead, followed by McMackin (1-5), Brock Chappelle (4-3) and southern Oregon rider Kyle Pachmayr (6-4). On Saturday, possibly the evening's fastest rider was Yamahamounted Jessy Williams. Williams, a former minicycle speedster, had his hands full with current minicycle speedster Josh Hill. Williams held off Josh's YZ85 in both motos to win the combined 125/250cc Intermediate class overall. Josh trailed 250cc overall winner Williams in both motos, while 125cc riders Aaron DeSilva and David Rose kept close tabs on the lead duo, finishing just ahead of the second-placed 250cc rider, Garret Melton. Josh didn't let a loss deter him from putting in a good performance in the Supermini class, though. He led every lap of both motos en route to a 1- J domination, while Matt Wilson and Aaron McClinton traded second-place finishes, with the nod going to Wilson in the overall tally. McClinton (2-3), Dominic Andreotti (4-4) and Glenn Prestholt Jr. filled out the top five overall. Justin Hill was as equally impressive. He first polished off the competition in the 60cc Open class, easily winning both motos. Using a riding style similar to that of his older broth- 125 INT: 1. David Rose (Yam). 250 BEG: 1.
