Manager. Roger DeCoster Headquarters: Brea, CA Riders: 21 Stephane Roncada Branden Jesseman 26 Danny Smith 29 Sean Hamblin 33 Sebastien Tortelli 103 Travis Pastrana 199 Mathieu Lalloz 970 IlDD@ [§)ilriJilfJ~ ~@@@ [x]il@@[l France Fombell, PA Middleton, ID Sun City, CA France Annapolis, MD France Lowdown: There are few people in the entire world RM250 RM125 RM125 RMl25 RM250 RM250 RMl25 SEBASTIEN TORTELLI of motocross racing who have seen what Roger DeCoster has seen, or who knows what Roger DeCoster knows. That being considered, he hired a couple of Frenchmen, Stephane Roncada and former World Champion Sebastien Tortelli, to fill the void ieft by Kevin Windham in the 250cc dass. It remains a possibility that Roncada may move down to the 125cc dass for the Eastern Region (where he's a former champ) if his results aren't up to par in the 250cc class, but he was showing a lot of speed on many occasions last year before he got injured, so don't count on him stepping down a dass. Tortelli is working with seven-time National champ Rick Johnson, who is working as Tortelli's riding coach. Apparently it's paid off, as Tortelli has started quick and held his own so far in the European Supercrosses, even though the outdoor events are more his forte. Travis Pastrana had a bad year last year due to injuries and sickness, but when he was healthy, he was fast, and he should be healthy for Anaheim. Sean Hamblin has reportedly been showing a lot of speed at the Suzuki test track in preparation for his factory supercross debut, and Danny Smith, Mathieu Lalloz and 2002 supercross winner Branden Jesseman will join him on the I 25cc squad, making quite a formidable team on paper. Manager: Mike Craig Headquarters: Escondido, CA Riders: Steve Lamson 6 Tyler Evans 64 Shae Bentley 65 67 Jeff Gibson 102 Shane Bess Camino, CA Canyon Lake, CA Ellenwood, GA Thornville, OH Riverside, CA RM125 RM250 RMI25 RMI25 RMI25 Lowdown: This is ECC's second year on the circuit, and they return with factory Suzuki equipment for 2003, as well as an enticing contract stipulation. If any of this team's riders wins any championship in 2003, he will get $1 million. Steve Lamson already has two championships to his credit, the 1995- '96 125cc National Championships, and he returns to the 125cc Supercross dass in part due to the promise of money and the competitive factory equipment. Joining him are his former Husqvarna teammate Tyler Evans, who'll be racing the 250cc dass, and former 125cc Supercross champ Shae Bentley. In addition, Shane Bess will return after a somewhat troubled 2002 rookie season, and former Cannondale rider Jeff Gibson, who rode factory Suzukis in Arenacross in 2001 with much success, returns to the last machines he won on in National competition. STEVE LAMSON J'IIanager: Paul Undsey Headquarters: EI Cajon, CA Riders: 41 Andrew Short David Pingree 51 Daryl Hurley 106 Ryan Morais 160 Bobby Kiniry 203 Colorado Springs, CO Temecula, CA New Zealand Turlock, CA Skaneateles, NY RM125 RM125 RM125 RM125 RM125 Lowdown: You'll notice an abundance of three-digit riders in this list. The reason is that these riders are rookies - though Daryl Hurley is only going to be a rookie in the U.S. Motoworld kept with the recent tradition of signing riders from Down Under with the team's signing of New Zealander Hurley. It makes us wonder what the Australian Supercross Championship will look like in a couple of years, since all the top riders may be riding up here. Ryan Morais was supposed to make his debut last year supported by McGrath Racing, but he got hurt too early to make a dent. Andrew Short and David Pingree are both proven 125cc pilots, and Pingree won a main event as early as last year. This team should be a contender in a dass full of Suzukis between the factory squad, ANDREW SHORT this team and Team ECC. 1E 1W 2 3 4 5 6 [f!)[Jf]!JiJiJ@@~ 55 56 57 58 59 60 61 Chad Reed Travis Preston Jeremy McGrath Mike Brown Ricky Carmichael Mike laRocco Steve Lamson Larry Ward Ezra Lusk David Vuillemin Kevin Windham Tim Ferry John Dowd Robbie Reynard Brock Sellards Doug Henry Damon Huffman Stephane Roncada Chad Reed Kyle Lewis Ernesto Fonseca Nathan Ramsey Branden Jesseman Nick Wey Heath Voss Danny Smith Matt Walker Buddy Antunez Michael Byrne Sean Hamblin Travis Preston Keith R.
